Construction

RCD Status: The yacht conforms with the essential safety requirements of Directive 94/25EC or RCDII (2013/53/EU as appropriate (Recreational Craft Directive) and is categorised A – “Ocean”.

 

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

  • Hull, surface is made in recycled carbon 100g/m2 resin rich layer with epoxy/vinyl ester resin. Surface, after demolding, is grinded and applied two layers of epoxy primer. Any colour PU base is applied. Final layer is two component PU clear coat, able to be locally repaired and polished.
  • No standard hull colour.
  • Deck and other composite parts surface are produced in highest quality vinyl ester NPG gel coat with hand applied epoxy/vinyl ester tie-coat.
  • NPG for deck is RAL 9016 and RAL7044.
  • Hull, deck, structural bulkheads and structural members of hull and deck are built in Epoxy/vinyl ester resin and hybrid, Carbon and Glass fibres laminate with high performance PVC core, using vacuum infusion lamination process.
  • During vacuum infusion process of bigger parts, like hull and deck, resin transfer and curing process is monitored with thermal camera.
  • Internal structure and gussets in solid epoxy vinyl ester-Carbon and epoxy vinyl ester- Glass laminate is bonded to both hull and deck with high-performance epoxy vinyl ester bonding paste.
  • Forepeak and aft bulkhead are watertight. The space in front of the forward bulkhead below the anchor well is filled with closed-cell PU or Epoxy foam creating watertight crash box.
  • Structural composite parts are post-cured for longer period to achieve full resin polymerization and maximum laminate performance.
  • Hull cove and decorative stripes are in PU paint or adhesive film.
  • Hull and deck inner surfaces and structure outer composite surfaces are sealed / painted with two component polyurethane or epoxy vinyl ester paint. All bilges to waterline are painted grey for easier inspection and cleaning.
  • V1 and D1 chain plates in stainless steel plate, 15mm thickness, bolted to hull side recess.
  • Coach roof side and front windows in tempered safety glass, bonded to coach roof structure with Pegasus logo on both sides.
  • Coach roof grab rails in stainless steel, two per side.
  • Fixed windshield in stainless steel frame, powder coated in black and gray, with tempered glass fixed side parts and tempered glass sliding central parts with manual locks.
  • Composite roof extending from windshield over cockpit with central opening.
  • Integrated stainless-steel handles on roof sides.
  • Cockpit side closure white plastic profiles at cockpit roof edges and mainsheet arch.
  • Artificial decking, on deck, folding platform, cockpit floor and cockpit seats.

Keel & Rudder:

  • A hydro dynamically optimized cast iron fin and low drag lead bulb form keel.
  • A big surface and thick keel plate spread loads of keel righting moment and grounding forces to composite structure of the boat.
  • Keel plate is bolted to hull with 12 high-tensile stainless-steel bolts with stiff backing plates.
  • Twin (2) spade rudders are a high ratio air foil section in glass/vinyl ester laminate with stainless steel rudder stock.

Aft of the bow locker, behind the watertight bulkhead, there is a large v-berth cabin with an infill and wardrobes both port and starboard. Through the door is a corridor with a heads compartment and shower to port for this cabin and the single cabin to port behind this. To starboard is a large twin owners’ cabin close to the centre of effort - making for easy motion and good access to the main saloon. This has an en-suite and shower. Up to the main saloon with interior chart table and watch keeping to port with a spacious galley aft of it. To port is a large u-shaped seating area with an adjustable table. The cockpit is on the same level as the main saloon making for a huge living and sailing area with seating, a table, twin wheels and a dinghy garage.

Navigation Area to Port Forward:

  • Raised navigator’s, oversized, seat and table with unobstructed 360 degrees view, over bow and to stern.

  • Chart reading light, red/white, is on the ceiling above chart area.

  • Under the navigation table and at its side forms a large technical zone with aeration slots etc. It is easily accessible and lies high and dry above bilges. Even at a high heel angles the bilge water has no access to this space or to the wiring of the navigation panel.

Companionway:

  • 2 very comfortable steps connect the cockpit and the saloon into one big and pleasant living area.
  • Steps in composite are transversally bent and features elevated sides to provide better foot grip during sailing. Steps are covered with artificial decking layer.
  • Storage under stairs in drawer and open storage box.
  • Cabinet on the STBD side of the stairs with front opening for storage or wine storage.

 

Cockpit:

Companionway:

  • Side-sliding companionway door in anodized and black painted, aluminium frame and tempered glass. Port half is sliding to starboard, starboard part is fixed. Stainless steel handle and lock with key and mechanical door lock in open position.
  • Companion way door has a seal height of 150mm above cockpit floor.
  • Possibility for 380mm high washboard in front of companionway door (if requested by customer or regatta rules).

 

Anchoring & Mooring Equipment:

  • Port side hull integrated stainless steel anchor arm with 80 mm roller for a 27 kg anchor.
  • Stainless steel, 27 kg anchor, Ultra.
  • 75 meters, 8mm stainless steel chain, DIN766 / ISO, with Twist swivel connector.
  • Chain end connected to U-bolt with rope or U-shackle.
