MANUFACTURER’S COMMENTS:

The ICE YACHTS boat-yard presents in the market the new ICE 52, a fast cruise dedicates to passionate and competent owners that seek enjoyment and strong emotions at the helm. Built with highly innovative materials and advanced construction techniques the ICE 52 is in a league of it’s own in all that regards performance, comfort on board and ability to take on even the toughest conditions at sea. Excellent for demanding cruises and regattas.

The design is inspired by the boats smaller sibling, the ICE 33 a killer regatta boat, from which it takes the “scimitar-like” design of the bow and “smiling” carving shape of the stern. The project has been realized by Felci Yacht Design and the production is done in the historic site of Yacht 2000, construction yard that has had over thirty years of experience and has completed more than 80 prestigious maxi-yachts.

The hydrodynamics are nothing less than impressive. The water lines allow the ICE 52 to glide at very high speeds due to its max beam of 4.65m and the carefully studied appendages also grant the yacht great upwind capabilities: the ICE 52 shows no problem in taking on wind coming from extremely narrow angles.

To guarantee this level of performance are the advanced technologies used in the construction process and the elevated skill of the artisans which have great experience and expertise in their field.

DESIGNER’S COMMENTS:

The ICE YACHTS yard is launching a new product in the market, the ICE 62 TARGA; finally something new and different from the usual boring proposals of the market, the Targa is a very exclusive version and even easier sailing than the already well known high-speed ICE 60. This boat perfectly suits the shipowners who are looking for a performing and safe boat, especially suitable for solo navigation and fast cruise, including maximum comfort.

The ICE 62 TARGA is an authentic, high-quality fast cruise with an incredible exploitation of space, an intriguing line that reminds of the typical stylistic features of the yard, and an addition of functional details such as the distinctive carbon rollbar with T top in carbon that differentiates from the traditional bimini and enables a clear, safe and clean deck.

By rising from the powerful lines of the ICE 60, alongside a mix of inspiring contents of ours 62′ and 70′, it is capable of exalting the robustness, seaworthiness, and performance that characterize the shipyard which led ICE YACHTS to success. Moreover, it denotes a unique and distinguishing elegance defined by the innovative deckhouse.

Its very modern design is marked by a reversal bow (scimitar shape), with a carbon bowsprit of 1.3 meters, acknowledged as the elder brother, and the natural evolution of ICE 52, a further ICE YACHTS bestseller with over 15 units produced nowadays.

The hydrodynamics of the boat is defined by water lines and appendices characterized by an unprecedented draft with variable depth from 2.30 to 3.80 meters; double rudder blades, bow thruster, retractable bow and stern thruster to guarantee maximum simplicity during the mooring.

Particular attention has been paid to save weight in order to install a Yanmar engine of 195 horsepower that allows incredible performances also without wind. The engine cruise top speed reaches and goes above 12 knots.

In addition to these performances, further technologies are applied throughout the construction, together with the incredible quality of valuable handcrafted work executed by highly qualified technicians who have collected many years of experience behind them.

The shell and deck are laminated in infusion from female mold; the hull is made of hybrid fibers to combine carbon’s structural stiffness with the natural noise and vibration suppression qualities of glass fibers. The deck is full carbon to ensure lightness in the upper part and lower the barycenter. The structures are made of carbon as well, are laminated into place, and also made in infusion, becoming one with hull and deck, removing creaks and noises. In addition to the classic gluing, the deck is bonded to the hull as well as all the bulkheads, creating a monolithic and very rigid structure. These choices, along with limiting the weights, supply the boat with a solidity and strength able to withstand the repeated stresses and heavy loads that are faced even in the most challenging navigation.

ICE 62 TARGA is equipped with a fin made of double Weldox steel with high mechanical characteristics and a lead torpedo milled with numerical control that offer the advantage of reducing the weight of the ballast and, therefore, the total displacement of the boat with the same righting moment.

The hydraulic lifting system is made by the italian company Cariboni and has a variable draught of 2.30/ 3.80 in order to obtain racer performance in navigation and at the same time guarantee the entrance into any port. Thanks also to the increased bulb, it is possible to reduce in a very consistent way the skidding in navigation and the rolling when stopped in the roadstead.

Therefore, the boat shows great power in the gaits in which is essential, and minimum displacement in those that represent a brake, such as sailing and motor navigation. All this enables maintaining very high-speed averages in all conditions, whether racing or cruising, sailing or motoring.

The two rudders are studied and designed with cutting-edge technologies and allow impressive control even when the boat is heeling or subjected to heavy aerodynamic loads. Carbon construction always keeps a clear focus on the theme of safety, central to both design and construction. The deck reflects Felci Yacht Design projects’ general lines, combining simplicity and style, elegance and efficiency, comfort, and versatility. The cockpit, characterized by wide benches and comfortable backrests, is definitely oversize and allows maximum mobility to large crews.

At the stern, there are two seats for the helmsman that hide a raft and a useful locker.

The spacious garage, a record in its category and almost at the level of a 70 ft boat, is designed to hold a tender with rigid keel of 3.1 meters! In the garage, two electric winches/hooks are arranged for the opening of the hatch and the tender movement, always in view of the search for comfort and effectiveness.

Furthermore, many details highlight how the study of the deck was conducted in the research for a synthesis between an ideal deck for a relaxed cruising life and that poignant with marine and efficiency, necessary during long-range navigation or race.

The maxi dodger or the bimini to protect the helmsman are beautiful and really innovative! All features are designed to underline the focus of the ICE 62 TARGA; comfort and exclusivity.

Some examples of this research include the hydraulic fairleads and an electric mooring at the bow. By following this same philosophy, the sail plan is characterized by a genoa without overlap, the absence of flying shrouds, and the mainsails made of carbon positioned directly on the hull.

The length ft excluding the bowsprit of the ICE 62 TARGA is under 18 meters, allowing the access to discounted rates that some marinas grant to boats of this size!

Thanks to the technologies employed for the realization of the interiors, such as the use of lightened panels, it is conceivable to save a considerable amount of weight compared to a traditional realization, without renouncing to the quality of the carpentry work, both in the refinement of finishes and in the excellence of the details. The interiors are foreseen in the version with 3 cabins, alongside 2 large bathrooms and a spacious open kitchen.

The standard carbon mast is equipped with a very comfortable mainsail roller with electric movement in the boom, very useful to further simplify the navigation or when reducing or pulling down the sails.

Hull No.1 ICE 62 TARGA is now afloat and in the hands of her new owner with Hull No.2 also sold and now in build.
