À propos de Baltic 46

English

Baltic 46-001, QUEEN ANNE. The first yacht from the iconic yard in Finland. A yacht with a unique history that has been sailed with the same crew for over 40 years, but let's start from the beginning...

In the early seventies, five young men left Nautor to start their own boatyard. The founders had a passion for boats, new technology, and a clear goal; to build - lighter, stiffer, and faster sailing boats. Since then, the iconic Baltic Yachts has launched over 550 boats and built a strong brand on the international stage.

The first model in the yard's history was designed by C&C Design in Canada. The interior design and style were created by the in-house design department, offering comfortable onboard living, an owner's cabin aft with twin berths and high-quality fittings. The yahct was bright and well-ventilated, especially in the navigation and galley area. The design was particularly appreciated for racing but also provided generous space for those who enjoy cruising. The Baltic 46 was a highly advanced yacht for its time, featuring sandwich construction, a teak deck bonded with epoxy for durability and added strength, and rod rigging as the standard for the mast. These were just a few of the details incorporated into the yacht to make it lighter without compromising on strength, thereby enhancing performance and comfort.

The original design focused on making the yacht competitive in offshore sailing, with the most efficient equipment and the best deck layout. Comfort needs were a central factor throughout the design process, resulting in a yacht with a spacious cockpit and a flush deck.

The Baltic 46 was introduced at the Hamburg Boat Show in 1974 and became a success, with no less than 43 boats delivered over the next two years.

This first Baltic 46 has a unique history. She was signed by the Norwegian Olympic sailor Theodore "Teddy" Sommerschield, and the yacht was named DIVA. She was loaned to Canada's Admiral's Cup team during the golden age of offshore international sailing events under IOR, attracting 57 yachts from 19 countries to Cowes on the Isle of Wight.

DIVA was renamed QUEEN ANNE when Sverre Onsager purchased her in 1979, naming her after his wife. He inherited a yacht that had already received significant investments, including extra winches, a total of 18, and an extensive sail wardrobe. These winches are still in use today. The yacht has been in the same family since then and is now owned by Sverre's son, Anders. Anders was just 1 year old when he first acquainted himself with the yacht and it has been a natural part of the family.

In connection with Baltic Yacht's 50th-anniversary celebration, Anders contacted the shipyard with an idea to undergo a comprehensive refit. The idea was warmly received by the shipyard and the work began. During 2022 and 2023, QUEEN ANNE underwent a thorough overhaul, with everything on board inspected. The old Perkins engine was replaced with a modern Yanmar, the hull and deck were painted with Awlgrip paint and the foredeck received a custom hatch. The rudder was removed and the keel and hull was inspected, all winches were renovated and a complete navigation system from B&G was installed.

QUEEN ANNE is in excellent condition, and thanks to a skilled owner and comprehensive refit, she is ready for new adventures, a yahct that will serve well for future generations.
