History of Azimut

Azimut Yachts was established in 1969 by Paolo Vitelli in Turin, Italy. Originally, it began as a small charter company, specialising in sailing boat rentals. By 1970, Azimut Yachts had transitioned into the manufacturing sector, starting with the production of fiberglass boats. The company's early success led to a partnership with Amerglass, a Dutch shipyard, and soon after, Azimut started producing its own designs. This marked the beginning of Azimut's evolution into a leading luxury yacht manufacturer. The 1980s and 1990s saw significant expansion for Azimut Yachts, including the acquisition of the historical Benetti shipyard in 1985. This acquisition enabled the company to diversify its production capabilities and enter the superyacht market. During this period, Azimut also focused on innovation and design, incorporating advanced technologies and high-quality materials into their yachts. Their commitment to craftsmanship and luxury helped solidify Azimut's reputation in the global market.Today, Azimut Yachts is headquartered in Avigliana, near Turin, but its influence is felt globally. The company operates various production sites in Italy, including the prominent Benetti shipyards in Viareggio and Livorno. Azimut is part of the Azimut-Benetti Group, one of the world's largest luxury yacht manufacturers. The brand continues to set industry standards for performance, design, and luxury, maintaining a strong presence in the high-end yachting market.
