Construction

RCD Status: Our understanding is that the yacht is exempt from the essential safety requirements of the Recreational Craft Directive as she was built and placed into use within the EU prior to 1998.

 

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

  • Fairey Marine Hull No.48 - Super Swordsman Aft Cabin series.
  • Agba veneers glued, compressed and baked together by hot moulding in Fairey’s autoclave.
  • Epoxied marine ply superstructure.
  • Teak decks over marine ply.
  • Varnished teak toe rail.
  • Teak laid roof over plywood to aft cabin structure.
  • Teak laid on plywood cockpit sole, bright finished.
  • Black two-pack paint to topsides, white paint to superstructure and cabin tops, red antifouling, with two–pack painted red boot-top.
  • Gold-painted Fairey dart lines to topsides, gold name and club to transom.

Machinery

Engine & Gearboxes:

  • 2 x Perkins Sabre M225 Ti 6 cyl. 225hp vertical in-line 6-cylinder diesel engines (1998).
  • High capacity heat exchanger with cupro-nickel tubestack ensures low operating temperatures for reliable and durable operation.
  • Gear driven engine and raw water pumps with high quality silicone hoses for the ultimate in reliable cooling and leak-free operation.
  • An integral plate type oil cooler offers compactness, saving installation space and features a by-pass valve for start up safety.
  • The turbocharger wastegate system reduces the maximum cylinder pressure and hence improves reliability and durability.

  • 6 litre displacement, with 4-stroke cycle.
