Construction

RCD Status: Our understanding is that the yacht is exempt from the essential safety requirements of the Recreational Craft Directive as she was built and placed into use within the EU prior to 1998.

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

• Fairey Marine Hull No.48 - Super Swordsman Aft Cabin series.
• Agba veneers glued, compressed and baked together by hot moulding in Fairey’s autoclave.
• Epoxied marine ply superstructure.
• Teak decks over marine ply.
• Varnished teak toe rail.
• Teak laid roof over plywood to aft cabin structure.
• Teak laid on plywood cockpit sole, bright finished.
• Black two-pack paint to topsides, white paint to superstructure and cabin tops, red antifouling, with two–pack painted red boot-top.
• Gold-painted Fairey dart lines to topsides, gold name and club to transom.

Machinery

Engine & Gearboxes:

• 2 x Perkins Sabre M225 Ti 6 cyl. 225hp vertical in-line 6-cylinder diesel engines (1998).
• High capacity heat exchanger with cupro-nickel tubestack ensures low operating temperatures for reliable and durable operation.
• Gear driven engine and raw water pumps with high quality silicone hoses for the ultimate in reliable cooling and leak-free operation.
• An integral plate type oil cooler offers compactness, saving installation space and features a by-pass valve for start up safety.
• The turbocharger wastegate system reduces the maximum cylinder pressure and hence improves reliability and durability.
• Rating of , Peak Torque (Nm) 700 @ 1400RPM.
• 6 litre displacement, with 4-stroke cycle.
• Chrome-plated Morse single lever gear/throttle controls.
• Engine instruments and isolator panel.
• Direct final drive via reduction gearboxes.

Maintenance & Performance:

• Hours Port: 653.
• Hours Starboard: 764.
• Professionally serviced throughout ownership, last service in 2021 (very few hours run since).

Propulsion & Steering:

• Hide-rimmed stainless steel ships wheel.
• 3-bladed bronze propellers supported by bronze P-brackets.
• Wheel rod steering with replacement bushes.
• Disc rope cutters installed to either shaft.

Electrical Systems

Voltage Systems:

• 24V ships system, with 12V converter as required.

Battery Banks:

• 6 x 110 Ah batteries: 2 for port engine; 2 for starboard engine; 2 for domestic.

Battery Chargers:

• 24V.15A automatic battery charger (installed under aft cabin double berth) via 220V shore power system.

Alternators:

• 24V alternator to either engine.

Shore Power:

• Installed, with long shore cable.

Plumbing Systems

Fresh Water & Water Heating System:

• Sigmar calorifier for hot water (fitted aft of port engine), with switched immersion element.
• Jabsco Par-Max4 pressure pump (installed under aft cabin double berth).

Bilge Pumps:

• Manual bilge pump in cockpit sole.
• Three switched electric bilge pumps.

Tankage

Fuel:

• Two stainless steel fuel tanks totalling 200 gallons / 910 litres approximately.
• Carried outboard of either engine, with large inspection hatches.

Fresh Water:

• Single stainless steel water tank totalling 50 gallons / 225 litres approximately.

Navigation Equipment

• Ritchie steering compass.
• Raymarine 54E DSC VHF Radio (fitted in main saloon).

• Forward cabin with vee berth can be separated with heavy curtain which recesses neatly to port.
