Horizon Yacht Sales present this stunning 2019 Nautitech 40 Open by Nautitech Catamarans’ Nauti By Nature.’
The Nautitech 40 Open was a game-changer, winning multiple awards. Sail Magazine 2016, and Cruising World’s best multihull cruiser for 2016. The 2019 Nautitech 40 Open Mark 2 is even better. The MK2 model has larger hull windows, distinctive grey Gelcoat detailing on the coach roof, the aft-facing galley, and some options changes.
When comparing a typical coach roof helm position versus the 2019 Nautitech 40 Open outboard helm position, the following should be considered: With twin helms on the hulls (both with biminis), you have a lower centre of gravity, reducing pitching moment, you are driving the boat from a position where you have good visibility forward and aft, and you are able to see all four corners of the boat. You are always helming from the favoured side, and with dual helm throttles, you are always right next to the dock you are coming alongside. Changing the command from one set of throttles to the other is as simple as pressing a button. Both helms are next to the cockpit, so the helmsperson is in touch with the rest of the crew.
Accommodation
The 40 “Open” name relates to Marc Lombard’s vision of a sailing/living space unlike any other. The saloon has an aft-facing galley, fridge, and either a nav desk or a saloon table to seat 6. Two large coach roof hatches provide ventilation at the anchor). This yacht also benefits from the convertible cockpit table and saloon table. Nauti By Nature is a four-cabin and two-head layout with air conditioning throughout.
Sailing the Nautitech 40 Open
Then you go sailing! A fathead main ( which does not have to be clipped and unclipped from the track) is hoisted effortlessly with the electric winch, and as you bear off, the Solent jib is unfurled and sets beautifully on its self-tacking track. In 18 knots of breeze, the Open 40 will go upwind better than 40 degrees apparent, with 8 knots boat speed, unheard of for a cruising cat without daggerboards.
With class-beating bridge deck clearance and an impressive fineness of hull ratio, it is no wonder the 2019 Nautitech 40 Open is so comfortable offshore. High-aspect rudders set aft of the propellers mean even in the following sea, there is no prop cavitation.
The 2019 Nautitech 40 Open is an exceptionally well-thought-out catamaran with a truly remarkable turn of speed and responsive handling to match.
