BROKER’S COMMENTS
The Southerly 47 is a premium bluewater cruiser, designed by Stephen Jones Yacht Design, conceived and constructed by Northshore Yachts Ltd, between 2012 and 2014.
This robust 47’ cruiser features the brand’s signature electro-hydraulic swing keel, providing a deep 3.2m draft for enhanced performance offshore and a shallow 1.2m draft for coastal exploration. The variable draft design allows sailors access to secluded anchorages without compromising seakeeping abilities.
The yacht's exterior presents a sleek aft cockpit with twin helms, designed to enable safe and responsive handling by short-handed crews. The fractional Seldén rig includes a self-tacking high-aspect jib, a furling genoa and a fully battened mainsail with single line reef line. There is also a removable cutter stay, parked at the mast when not in use, with running backstays and a cutter jib.
Below decks, the spacious saloon is thoughtfully elevated for panoramic visibility. The standard three-cabin layout includes a luxurious owner’s cabin aft, a midship cabin and a forward double cabin, served by two heads with showers. High-quality joinery in teak adds warmth and refinement to a layout tailored for life aboard.
Powered by a Yanmar 75 hp inboard diesel engine, with 660 litre fuel and 499 litre water tanks, the Southerly 47 is primed for long-range voyages.
In summary, the Southerly 47 is thoughtfully designed, combining ocean-ready performance, shallow-water versatility, premium onboard comfort and is a highly capable cruiser.
