The Hurley 22 is a long-established family cruising yacht and became an instant hit when launched in the 1960’s. Quite aside from her pretty, the Hurley 22 is solidly built and is a good performer. The boats have proved themselves on long cruises; several 22’s have crossed the Atlantic, and at least one has cruised the Pacific. "Cariad" has been in her current ownership for 20 years and benefits from having had a new engine fitted in 2020.

Accommodation
Four berths in single cabin with sitting headroom. Double berth forward with two quarter berths aft. Galley area to port (but no galley fixings).
Mechanical Systems
2020 Yanmar 1GM10, single cylinder, 9hp marine diesel engine located under companionway. Engine supplied new in 2020 with gear box and mounts. Electric start. Sea water cooled. Shaft drive to three blade propeller. Plastic fuel tank new with engine.

Single 12v battery charged via engine alternator.
Sails and Spars
Masthead rigged sloop. Gold anodised aluminium mast and boom. Mast stepped in tabernacle. Stainless steel standing rigging. Terylene running rigging. Two Maxwell 16 single-speed sheet winches. Halyard winch on mast.

Construction
Built by Hurley Marine Ltd. in the early 1970’s. Production number 8646, sail number 685. White GRP hull with teak rub rail. Light grey GRP decks with moulded-in non-slip surfaces. Light blue painted cockpit seats and hatches. Encapsulated cast iron long fin keel. Tiller steering to skeg hung rudder. Aft self-draining cockpit. Timber handrails on coachroof.
