The Corsair Cruze 970 XL is a 31-foot trailerable trimaran that combines sporty sailing performance with great comfort for a small family on holiday. The boat is a further development of the proven Corsair 31 and offers about fifteen percent more interior volume, along with full standing height in the saloon. Despite its compact design, it provides comfortable berths in both the forward and aft cabins, a separate head, a functional galley, and a spacious saloon for four people. The weight is approximately 2.2 tons in standard configuration, which, combined with a sail area of up to 130 square meters, delivers a fast and responsive sailing experience. The sail wardrobe includes a furling jib, mainsail, screecher, and gennaker.
The boat is built using vacuum-infused fiberglass with a PVC foam core, providing low weight and high strength. Carbon reinforcements have been added at all load-bearing and exposed areas of the structure, ensuring maximum stiffness and durability even under tougher conditions. The unique folding system allows the trimaran to easily fold down to a width of 2.55 meters and be transported on a trailer behind a larger car. The centerboard and rudder are retractable, allowing the boat to be beached or moored in very shallow water.
What makes this particular vessel especially interesting, in addition to the XL rig version with double spreaders and extended sail area, is the range of carefully considered upgrades. These include a self-tacking jib for short-handed sailing, a powerful engine that follows the rudder for more precise maneuvering, inflatable fenders that sink, larger winches, an extra sturdy and reinforced trailer, and a carbon-style interior design.

There’s simply nothing else that offers so much speed in a trailerable package. This is the fastest and largest sailboat you can tow behind your car at 80 km/h on the highway. Yet she’s also a fantastic cruiser where we’ve lived comfortably, easily, sailing at 15 knots and sometimes topping over 20 knots.
I truly love this boat. She’s given us incredible moments of freedom and joy, and I hope the next owner will feel the same excitement she has brought us.
