The YYachts Y7, manufactured in 2026 and available for sale in Germany, epitomises the innovative vision of Michael Schmidt Yachtbau, created by passionate sailor Michael Schmidt. Measuring 21.68 metres in length with a 5.75-metre beam, the Y7 reflects a commitment to being fast, light, and easy to sail. Designed by Bill Tripp, the yacht features elegantly integrated systems including a furling system, anchor, and wheel pedestals. Powered by twin engines and equipped with a bow thruster, the Y7 offers exceptional manoeuvrability, even in tight marinas. A tender garage accommodates a dinghy up to 3.50 metres, and synthetic teak is utilised on deck for its eco-friendly and durable properties. Notably, the yacht's halyards and sheets run hidden to the wheel pedestals, enabling the 70-footer to be sailed singlehandedly, likely a unique feature in its class. The absence of a backstay allows for a larger square-headed mainsail, enhancing performance. The cockpit is versatile, with a full-size companionway to crew quarters cleverly integrated into the design.
The origin of YYachts by Michael Schmidt Yachtbau is one of many success stories of its founder Michael Schmidt. Himself a pass- ionate regatta sailor and boat builder, from the outset he was steadfast in his belief that a yacht must be fast, light and easy to sail. The Y7 is the realisation of this philosophy and features numerous innovations on board that express it.

The furling system, anchor and wheel pede- stals are elegantly integrated into the exterior look created by Bill Tripp. Twin engines and a bow thruster allow easy manoeuvring, even in tight marinas, making the Y7 surprisingly easy to handle.
Your dinghy of up to 3.50 metres in length disappears in a tender garage and is moved with a lifting system integrated into the car- bon boom. Containing all equipment
and “water toys”, the dinghy garage is dry and easily accessed from the deck. On deck, YYachts uses synthetic teak which is long lasting, light and eco-friendly.
All halyards and sheets on the Y7 run aft and hidden to the wheel pedestals. This way the helmsman or helms woman can sail the Y7 singlehandedly – probably the only 70-footer on the market that allows this.
As there is no backstay, the square- headed mainsail boasts more sail area and a profile better suited for performance. The cockpit has a high variety of uses. On the portside there is a full-size companionway leading to the crew quarters and invisibly integrated in the aft cockpit settees.
