Construction

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

  • ARTEMIS is built from Prepreg Carbon Fiber with both foam and Nomex honeycomb core in different areas of the hull.
  • She is beautifully built by Knieriem Yachtbau in Germany to the highest standards.
  • Recently painted with Awlgrip in 2020 at KKMI and has a teak deck with silver caulking for a fresh and modern look.

 

Keel & Rudder:

  • She has a lifting keel that allows for easy access into the harbor. Her draft is 9 ft 11 inches up / 3.0M.
  • With her keel down, she draws 15 ft 9 inches / 4.8 M. This gives her a high righting moment that is safe and fun to sail.
  • Her twin rudders make ARTEMIS a dream to sail with low helm loads, drag on the windward rudder can be reduced wihtthe adjustable toe in system.
  • Second keel bulb, heavier than current bulb. Simple to change with current bulb.

Machinery

Engine & Gearboxes:

  • Main engine is a Volvo D3-110. Replaced in 2021. 78hp.
  • Engine controls in recess panel on starboard helm station with easy access.
  • Dual engine intakes for sea water cooling are automatically controlled with a gravity switch.
  • Engine room ventilation system redesigned / rebuilt in 2021 to allowing proper operation of machinery and fast charging of batteries.

 

Maintenance & Performance:

  • Estimated around 2.8 gallons per hour for roughly 40 hours of engine run time without bladders.
  • Regularly serviced.

 

Propulsion & Steering:

  • The steering is linked to a track system with the ability to adjust rudder angle and reduce drag for offshore and inshore racing. This design is following the Volvo 65s and 70s.
  • Reliable propeller shaft and strut with a 3 blade Gori folding propeller.
  • Emergency tiller (Please note this is a twin rudder boat).
  • The boat is fully fitted with a bow and stern thruster.

Electrical Systems

Voltage Systems:

  • 24 Volt DC system is supplied by (3) Mastervolt 5,0000 Lithium Ion 24 180 Ah batteries.
  • Adjacent to the batteries is a junction box with disconnect switches for each battery and the battery management system and 400-amp breakers for each bank with 200 amp fuses for each battery.
  • All wiring in the boat is standard copper boat cable with plastic insulation. Wire is supported as required by CFR's, ABYC and ISO.

 

Battery Banks:

  • Bank # 1 is for the service, bank # 2 is for the hydraulics.
  • The batteries are located under the saloon floor in a battery box with securing hold downs and a waterproof soft cover.
  • The engine and generator starting batteries are 12-volt AMG located in the engine box.

 

Battery Chargers:

  • The batteries are charged by a Mastervolt 4000w changer in the starboard aft hanging locker.

 

Alternators:

  • The batteries are charged by the main engine 80-amp alternator and the generators 120-amp alternator.

 

Generator:

  • Volvo D2-40 generator. Rebuilt in 2022.
  • Dual generator intakes for sea water cooling are automatically controlled with a gravity switch.
  • Generator room ventilation system redesigned / rebuilt in 2021 to allowing proper operation of machinery and fast charging of batteries.

 

Shore Power:

  • Vessel is fitted with 230v 50 Hz AC shore power system that can be supplied through by shore power, generator, or inverter.
  • The shore power plug is on the cockpit wall portside aft with circuit breaker and galvanic isolator.

 

Other Electrical:

  • Mastervolt power management control and monitor at the Nav. station.
  • New 110-volt inverter with easy view display.

Plumbing Systems

Fresh Water & Water Heating System:

  • Pressure water system via Flo-jet 24-volt pump.

 

Watermaker:

  • Schenker watermaker. Rebuilt in 2023. Modular analogic. 24-volt. 16 gallons per hour / 60 liters per hour.

 

Bilge Pumps:

  • 7 x 1,100 gph 24v Rule submersible bilge pumps with automatic.
  • 1 x 24 volt 16 liter per hour roving bilge pump.
  • 2 x manual bilge pumps.

Tankage

Fuel:

  • Two fuel side tanks were replaced in 2024.
  • There are 3 built in fuel tanks and removable bladder tanks.
  • The built in tanks are 48 gallons / 180 liters to port and 40 gallons / 150 liters to starboard.
  • There is a 26 gallon / 100-liter day in the front of the engine / generator.
  • Total fuel without bladders is 114 gallons / 430 liters.
  • Fuel filters are dual Racor have been recently replaced.
  • New fuel transfer pump.
  • Two custom made removable fuel tanks for deliveies with fuel draw and quick connect fittings.

 

Fresh Water:

  • Both water tanks were replaced in 2020.
  • Two water tanks 26 gallon / 100 liters each.
  • Two new freshwater bladder tanks.

 

Grey/Blackwater Holding Tanks:

  • Aft head connected to a 10 gallon / 40 liter holding tank with a wye valve direct discharge option.
  • Forward head discharges overboard directly only for offshore use.
  • There is a holding tank in the container that is easily installed for the forward head.

Navigation Equipment

  • New H5000 B&G CPU in 2021.
  • New Garmin displays on mast 2021.
  • B&G MFD at each helm station.
  • 9-inch B&G MFD at Nav. station.
  • Akia LCD computer display at Nav. station.

Galley:

  • Stainless steel gimbaled 2 burner LPG stove and oven replaced in 2020.
  • 13 kg alumium LPG tank with regulator located in deck locker port side aft.
  • Double sinks with pressure water system.
  • Carbon clear coat galley counter top.
  • Top loading refrigerator withe 24 volt Cold Machine 60w compressor.
  • Portable freezer cooler located in aft lazarette.

 

Heads/Showers:

  • 2 x WCs. One head forward of mast and forward in master cabin.
  • One shower opposite head compartment and another in the master cabin with the head.

 

Entertainment:

  • Vestatile Fusion Entertainment with Bose speakers in main cabin with water proof speakers in cockpit.

 

Lighting:

  • LED lighting at chart table interchangable with red and white.
  • Down lighting in galley area and side lighting in cabins and main saloon.
  • All down lighting interchangable red and white with the tap of a button.

Accommodation

Description of layout from forwards:

  • The head and shower compartment in white painted finish. Carbon Vacu flush toilet and matching Carbon vanity space with integral sink and Cocobolo veneer finish. Mirrored vanity unit with additional storage below and to the side.
  • Master Cabin with two wide single berths and hanging locker finished in Cocobolo veneer.
  • LED under bunk lighting and hatch to foredeck with removable custom-made carbon ladder.
  • Mid grey upholstery throughout.
  • Side window to topsides on both sides of the yacht and integrated carbon hull side shelving.
  • Heads on port side and shower opposite on starboard side.
  • Main Saloon Area with L Shape seating on Starboard Side and linear bench on Port side.
  • Housing for the lifting keel on Center line.
  • Removable table on Starboard side.
  • Chart Table to Port and Galley to Starboard.
  • Mirror image aft bunk cabins open plan to saloon. Locker on Port side with shelving, could easily be turned into a hanging locker. Easy access to wiring via zip panels at back of locker.
  • The Starboard side cabin has a locker containing electrical equipment sealed in waterproof case and Mastervolt Charging unit.
  • Engine room on centerline between cabins; housing Generator, Main Engine, hydraulic manifolds and all other systems. Easy access with a lot of space for access. Forward end removes under companionway steps for easy access to main engine. Deck hatch gives excellent access to the top of the engine.
  • New interior cushions.
  • The forward cabin main berth is wider than the above image, this was undertaken in the 2020 refit.
