The past

As a child, John Moody fell was obsessed with boats. His first attempt at boatbuilding began in the courtyard of his home in Swanwick. When he passed away in 1880, he left his boat building business to his son, Alexander, who continued to fulfil his dream. It was John's grandson, Alexander Herbert, along with his son Reginald, who began maintenance on boats at the beginning of the 20th century. But in 1934, Moody decided to build yachts themselves.

The family made a promise that Moody Yachts were to use the best materials available and maintain the highest quality workmanship. To this day, nothing has changed, and for the past 150 years Moody Yachts still sits on the River Hamble.

The present

Today, Moody lives up to its reputation of quality and innovation. Premier Marinas Limited, has continued the commitment to Moody’s tradition of excellence, along with HanseYachts AG.

The Moody brand will be developed further with the help of designer, Bill Dixon. Each one of his designs offers the highest comfort, and proves the quality workmanship. Renowned for sophisticated technology and functionality, Moody Yachts continue offer years of success to Bill Dixon and team. Despite change, Hanse and Bill Dixon will still be committed to Moody’s central design concept – the deck saloon yacht.

The future

Building upon a 200 year tradition, Moody is writing history by taking sailing into the new century. Introducing the Moody 62 Decksaloon.

This new Moody combines all the best aspects of boating. The comfort of a motor yacht, the space and views of a catamaran and the handling and performance of a fast cruising yacht.

Visitors to the Southampton Boat Show this year will be able to take in the beauty of the brand new Moody Decksaloon 62. Designed by Dixon Yacht Design, this latest Moody builds upon the same features as the successful Moody Deck Saloon 45 DS. The 62 model is a stylish cruising yacht with the new deck saloon concept for sailing and living on one level. The amazing cockpit with a sail handling cockpit and a safe leisure cockpit is connected through a sliding door. The new Moody has a large loft style saloon and offers stunning views. Plus its fast hull lines with stability for safety and comfort.
