A ship with history. From the logbook we know that the ship was used as a charter in the Mediterranean and along the English south coast. In the eighties she sailed along the Canary Islands and the Azores to the Caribbean Islands and back. Part of that journey was done solo sailing.
The Faston is a stable ship and a fast sailer. It has a draft of 220, is heavily rigged, and has a safe and spacious centre cockpit. The ship is ketch-rigged, which makes the sails easy to handle. The ship has a spacious interior with a cosy saloon, kitchen and a navigation corner, six berths, two wet cells and a large engine. The saloon and cabins have real standing height, which makes the ship suitable for long stays at sea or in port.
In 2023, the Faston was thoroughly overhauled. Below and above the waterline, the ship was provided with a new paint system. The outdated teak deck was replaced by a wood-epoxy bonded deck and the ceilings and hulls were re-carpeted.
Because the ship was put to dry in a shed for this “refit”, this also provided the opportunity to provide the masts with completely new stainless steel rigging, including all tensioners, by CS Rigging in Zaandam and also to renew the wiring in the masts, the antennas, windex, halyards and blocks.
The outdated navigation equipment has been replaced by a new Raymarine marine radio, sea-talk network, plotter and two multifunction displays.
Finally, the ship was reupholstered.
The Faston is now ready for a new sea life and is waiting for someone with big travel plans.

Zeilschip Faston is te koop! Een stoer schip, geschikt voor lange zeereizen. Stalen romp, 43 voet, Ketch getuigd, gebouwd in 1978 naar ontwerp van Van de Stad,
Een schip met geschiedenis. Vanuit het logboek weten we dat het schip als charter werd gebruikt op de Middellandse en langs de Engelse zuidkust. In de tachtiger jaren zeilde het langs de Canarische eilanden en de Azoren naar de Caribische eilanden en terug. Een deel van die reis werd solo-zeilend afgelegd.
De Faston is een stabiel schip en een snelle zeiler. Het steekt 220 diep, is zwaar getuigd, voorzien van een veilige en ruime centre-cockpit. Het schip is ketch-getuigd is, daardoor zijn de zeilen goed hanteerbaar. Het schip heeft een ruim interieur met een gezellige salon, keuken en een navigatiehoek, zes kooien, twee natte cellen en forse machine. De salon en de hutten hebben echte sta hoogte en daarmee is het schip ingericht voor langdurig verblijf op zee of in de haven.
In 2023 is de Faston grondig onderhanden genomen. Onder en boven de waterlijn is het schip van een nieuw verfsysteem voorzien. Het verouderde teakdek werd vervangen door een hout-epoxy verlijmd dek en de plafonds en wegeringen zijn opnieuw ingetimmerd.
Omdat het schip voor deze “refit” in een loods drooggezet werd, bood dat ook de gelegenheid om de masten te voorzien van een compleet nieuwe rvs verstaging inclusief alle spanners, door CS Rigging te Zaandam en ook de bedrading in de masten, de antennes, windex, vallen en blokken te vernieuwen.
De gedateerde navigatie apparatuur is vervangen door een nieuwe Raymarine marifoon, sea-talk netwerk, plotter en twee multifunctionele displays.
Tenslotte werd het schip opnieuw gestoffeerd.
De Faston is hiermee klaar voor een nieuw zeeleven en ligt te wachten op iemand met grote reisplannen.
