"Beatrix" has been my first boat, and she has been an absolute joy. I wanted a boat that would be easy to learn the ropes on and easy to sail short-handed. She has excelled as that.
She is a pleasure to cruise, and we have explored the Solent and along the coast west from there, but she is more than capable of longer journeys. She has been equally capable racing, with a larger crew, and we have successfully competed in the Round the Island every year. With a full set of 3DI sails up, she is a fast boat, but still very manageable.
The Furling Boom I added has been fantastic, making managing the main very easy. The main can be raised effortlessly in minutes, even two-handed, using the electric winch, and is equally easy to reef and to furl away at the end of a long day on the water.
Beatrix is very maneuverable under engine in close quarters. She is easy to get in and out of her berth, even for a relative beginner, and the bow thruster really helps with that.
She has been professionally maintained throughout my ownership, with no expense spared and all necessary upgrades made. She is probably in better condition now than when I bought her and far better equipped. Last winter, I added a copper bottom coat (for ease of maintenance), and has recently been fitted with a new suite of lithium batteries, that will be fantastic on longer voyages. Her nav system has also been upgraded this year.
I will be sorry to see her go, but she is in great shape and will give excellent service to her new owner.
