FLY AWAY is hull #9 of the 11 Bruckmann 50s built to date. She is a MKII version with an integral swim platform and longer waterline. Her lovely silver-gray Awlgrip hull and gleaming brightwork complement a beautifully crafted interior. Inside, she features a two-stateroom layout plus a TV den/library that offers an additional berth if needed. The interior is finished in Herreshoff white with gloss-varnished mahogany trim. The galley is light and airy, with a huge refrigerator and a separate freezer. The pilothouse includes a U-shaped settee around a hi/low table. Opposite are two easy chairs, one of which converts into the helmsman’s chair at the inside steering station. Powered by a 200 HP John Deere, this boat is designed for long-distance passages in comfort. She is equipped with all the systems one could want: lithium batteries, air conditioning, generator, inverter, bow thruster, Starlink, recent Garmin electronics, new Doyle sails, and a furling boom. Summary of Accommodation:

  • There is an abundance of natural light and plenty of storage space throughout.

 

Description of layout:

 

Owner's Cabin:
  • The owner's cabin, forward, has a large king V-shaped berth with a custom ECIN Boat mattress and large mahogany drawers on front face.
  • Generous storage throughout in built-in chest of drawers to port with louvered hanging locker to starboard.
  • An overhead dome plus four directional reading lights provide light, while two large opening hatches, with blinds and screens, an opening port and two Hella fans provide natural light and ventilation.
  • Custom linens.

 

Guest Cabin:
  • Moving aft, the guest cabin is to starboard, with double berth, hanging locker, night stand and additional storage lockers above/outboard and beneath the berth.
  • An overhead dome and reading lights, two opening ports, an overhead hatch, as well as a Hella fan provide good light and ventilation.

 

Heads:
  • The guest and master heads, separated by a stall shower, are found opposite the guest cabin along the port side.
  • Both are equipped with stainless steel sinks, Corian counters, and Vacuflush heads.

 

Galley and Library Lounge:
  • Midships there is a library/den TV room to starboard flanked by a truly generous U-shaped galley to port.
  • Natural light and the sense of openness come from the pilothouse windows above.
  • The efficient galley layout features an abundance of storage (including a centerline pantry-style cabinet), big front and top loaded fridge.

  • The unique library/den is a very versatile area, with a convertible settee upholstered in Camel Ultrasuede for added sleeping accommodations, as well as bookshelves, storage lockers/drawers, a flat screen TV, Blu-ray player, stereo and separate washer and dryer hidden behind matching louvered cabinet doors. It's the perfect place to read or watch a movie.

 

Pilothouse and Saloon:
  • Three steps lead to the pilothouse, which offers a 360° panoramic view, even from a seated position.
  • The helm chair is an electric up/down model in Camel Ultrasuede.
  • The inside steering station (hydraulic) is fully functional, complete with custom built-in electronics, chart table, and engine controls.
  • Navigating in adverse weather conditions is done in complete comfort and security.
  • A custom chair with reading light is located behind the inside helm station on the starboard side.
  • Opposite to port there is a U-shaped dinette, again upholstered in Camel Ultrasuede, which converts to a double berth.
  • There are mahogany Oceanair mini blinds throughout.
  • Two large floorboard hatches along the centerline offer extraordinary access to the full-beam engine room below.
  • Access to the cockpit is via a sliding door, which, when opened, creates a (single level) large and inviting indoor/outdoor entertaining space.
Cockpit
  • Large, hinged cockpit transom door.
