Construction

Designed by Martin Sadler and built by Sadler Yachts Ltd to a hull design incorporating PU foam core to provide positive buoyancy in the event of a hull breach, with a consequential benefit of being unsinkable but also a degree of thermal insulation and straightforward wipe-down surfaces internally. The Sadler 34 design is fitted with a cast iron external fin keel and skeg supported rudder and is tiller steered for a more direct sailing feel and much better utility of space within the cockpit and has the shallower 1.48m 'Shoal keel’

Mechanical

Engine

Fitted with a replacement Bukh DV24ME 24HP diesel engine in early 2016. This was a refurbished little used lifeboat engine and has behaved impeccably during current ownership

Currently indicating only around 920 hours run from newly refurbished.

Speedseal easy change impeller cover

Shaft drive to a fixed, 3 bladed propeller

Carried on board are a substantial amount of useful engine spares and service parts which include recently refurbished alternator and starter motor.

Three lead acid batteries are fitted within dedicated storage recesses formed within the aft cabin's internal moulding: 2 x 115 A/hr capacity batteries for 'Domestic and Services' bank, with a separate 105A/hr battery for engine cranking. (All batteries were new in 2021).

Batteries charged by engine-driven alternator and a Pro-Charge Ultra 12v/20A battery charger by Sterling Power for use when the vessel is connected to electrical shore support.

A Pro-Split R splitter, again by Sterling Power is fitted to enhance the alternator's output charge.

A Nasa BM-1 Compact display is fitted at the chart table to monitor the batteries' state of charge.

Whisper Power WP-Sine inverter.on board however not connected.

Hot and cold pressurized water system to all taps.

Calorifier for water heating.

In the galley there is a fresh water hand pumped faucet and also a salt water one.

Tankage:

Fuel: Approx. 25 gallons (112 litres) diesel carried in a stainless steel tank located toward the rear of the cockpit locker. Provided with a sight-gauge and a low-fuel warning light; the latter fitted alongside the companionway. This is faulty and is permanently lit. Needs troubleshooting.

Freshwater: Approx. 50 gallons (200 litres) freshwater carried within a flexible, bladder tank amidships beneath the starboard settee berth and a large spare water carrier in aft cockpit locker.

Holding tank: GRP tank located under the forward cabin's port-hand berth of unknown capacity, but with a clear inspection hatch to view the content's level.

Running rigging and reefing lines (all in good condition) are led aft to cockpit and handled by a variety of Lewmar winches, with the headsail sheet primary winches being self-tailing Lewmar 43 winches. Spinnaker sheet snubbing winches are fitted.

Sails

Fully battened mainsail with Rutgerson roller luff cars (New in 2022 - by Dart Sails).

Cross-cut, roller furling Genoa by Southern Sails, with a foam-padded luff to enhance when it's reefed sail.

Symmetrical spinnaker.

Accommodation

Up to seven berths in three cabins with a generous, U-shaped galley, forward-facing chart table, centreline leafed table, heads compartment forward and forward cabin separated from the heads by wooden door, all based on Sadler's foam stiffened sub moulding that provides insulated accommodation and built-in buoyancy. A two outlet hot air heater by Eberspacher was fitted in 2022.

Speakers in cockpit sides, replaced September 2025

Forward cabin:

Two berths, formed in a 'Vee' can provide a double berth using an in-fill cushion.

Open shelving alongside berth. Under berth lockers are lined (dry) storage lockers used for light wind sail storage. Additional removable storage nets have been provided to hang from beneath the deck head. Hanging locker, dedicated to the forward cabin is provided to starboard. Opening overhead deckhatch (a recent replacement) for light and ventilation.

Heads:

Heads compartment extends across the beam of the hull forward of the mast, with doors ahead and to the main bulkhead for privacy. A Jabsco 'Twist n Lock' marine flushing toilet is fitted, connected to a holding tank. Main Saloon:

U-Shaped seating to port providing either a settee berth or convertible to a double using an in-filling panel to enable the U-shaped seating to convert to a double if required, single settee berth to starboard with lee cloth. A centreline-mounted saloon table with internal bottle storage and drop leaves. Above the settee berth on the port side is an open, fiddled shelf, with a closed locker and additional, fiddled book shelf to starboard. A bladder tank for freshwater is located beneath the starboard settee berth while a substantial, lined stowage space is provided beneath the settee berth to port.

Navigation area:

A well-sized, forward facing chart table accommodates folded charts and almanacs within, with a further storage shelf and a deeply-fiddled cave locker outboard of the chart table, where the AlS transponder and VHF have been mounted. A vinyl covered seat is fitted abaft the chart table, complete with a supporting strap for the navigator.

Galley:

Located to port of the companionway (for comfortable use when hove to on starboard tack while making a cup of tea), the Sadler 34's galley is notably generous in offering a generous amount of work space & security to a cook at sea with workable storage. A new Starlight 2 burner, grill & oven gas cooker by Dometic was fitted in 2022. Twin sinks are fitted within the forward peninsular and have individual covers. These can be stowed on dedicated fixings on the central bulkhead below the sink. In the galley rressurised H&C water supply and there is a fresh water hand pumped faucet as well as a salt water one.. A deep, top opening refrigerated cool box is now fitted to this Sadler 34's galley, with a relatively large and shelved locker provided where the original, front-opening fridge would have been.

Located to starboard, this cabin extends aft of the companionway steps/engine box, thereby able to offer some seating and a hinged fiddled surface for small items ahead of the berth. A fiddled, open storage shelf alongside & above the berth has been widened. History and Owners Comments

Anecdotally, we're told that this particular Sadler 34 was originally owned as his personal yacht by a senior Army officer, based for a time at the British Services', Kiel Sailing Centre in Germany. It was upon his insistence that the forward sections be 'beefed up' and additional ballast weight be fitted to the foot of the keel. It was at this time too that a holding tank was provided by the adaptation of the internal moulding's locker under the forward berths to provide the tank. We believe that, in his ownership 'Faustina' cruised the Baltic and down into the Mediterranean Sea.

It can be seen from the documentation held that she was returned to the UK and formerly sold within the family to the original owner's son, with the boat being based in the Southampton/Solent sailing area for many years by the following two owners before being bought by the previous owner who is a professional Yacht Captain. In September 2022, it was purchased by two octogenarian brothers and moved from Plymouth to Glasson Dock in Morecambe Bay. The elder brother has extensive experience of sailing, from 1979 he raced J24s being successful in national and internation events. In 1997 he commenced a 14 year circumnavigation along with his wife. He has used his vast experience to make many small and subtle improvements. Unfortunately very little cruising was done in 2024 because the flood defence door at Glasson Dock was stuck in the closed position and was not removed until early august. This allowed a cruise to the Isle of Man, Northern Island to Troon. A late Scottish cruise had to be aborted due to bereavment. A late season cruise returned Faustina to Glasson Dock for the winter.

Once again Faustina was moved up to Scotland, this time to Clyde Marina. From this base succesful 4 weeks of cruising have been acheived. Unfortunately ill-health makes a sale necessary.

VAT paid status is verified by an authenticated SAD (C88) and covering letter from HM Customs and Excise, dated February 1993

As you will have read above, many good and expensive upgrades have been commissioned over the last four years; the underwater surfaces were slurry blasted to remove old antifouling coatings during the winter 2017/2018, the mainsail is 'As-New' & in lovely shape and modern electrical systems and items of electronic equipment have been fitted
