The Hundred Sovereigns Cup Race – 21st July 2012

On 21st July 2012 up to nine J Class yachts will race round the Isle of Wight in a re-enactment of the 100 Sovereigns Cup raced in 1851. The yachts will sail over the original America’s Cup course of 75 miles around the Isle of Wight, with no time limit.

Arrow Yacht Enterprises has chartered a 700 ton vessel, the Balmoral, for this event.  She is registered to carry 800 passengers, but for the race there will be 300 on board, to ensure that everyone will have a good view of the J Class yachts.

Breakfast, Buffet Lunch and Afternoon Tea will be served on board.  The Balmoral has an onboard cash bar that will be serving wine and spirits as well as soft drinks.

Those wishing to view the race onboard  will be required to embark on Balmoral in Southampton by 8 am on 21st July.  Unless there are very light winds, the Balmoral is expected back in Southampton at 4.30pm.

The cost of this event is £140 a head, to include all food and a programme.*

*Should fuel prices rise extortionately over the next 7 months, ticket prices may increase to cover this cost.
