About this Woodnutt's of St Helen's, IoW English Folkboat

English

'Hangover' is a red, wooden English Folkboat, built in 1961 by Woodnutts of Bembridge, IoW. The carvel-built hull has been epoxy sheathed to make it watertight, and as a result the hull is in very good, dry condition, having been stored in an open-sided barn for the last few years. Stripped teak deck and cabin sole. The deck and coachroof appear dirty in the pictures, but this is just the result of barn storage dust and will easily be washed off. The rig is similar to that of a Nordic Folkboat. Mast and boom are wood.

Traditional mahogany fitted galley / dining / navigation area with cooker and heads. The cooker is a Dometic 2-burner alcohol stove on gimbals. The heads is a new ceramic unit, fitted shortly before the boat was laid up. Sea cocks appear to be in working order.

The dog-house provides extended headroom.

Extensive sail wardrobe, plus spare fittings and equipment.

Inboard diesel engine is a Yanmar 1GM10, which drives a 2-bladed prop.

The boat has a galvanised, braked, 4-wheel trailer in good condition with good tyres.

The boat is currently stored on her trailer in an open-sided barn.

'Hangover' was extensively rebuilt in the 1990s, and there is a lot of documentation from this and previous history. In recent times, she has been looked after by the Aldeburgh Boatyard since 2012.

This boat has been sailed across to Holland and back several times and there is a good chart table with fittings for an iPad or similar.

This is a rare opportunity to acquire a classic Folkboat that has been well-maintained, and which can easily be restored to her former glory to provide excellent sailing in a beautiful boat.
