About this Jack Powles Powles 41

English

MV Imatra is a Powles 41 currently with her third owner since new. Over the last 5 years, the vessel has undergone a major refit to a very high standard, including structural composite repairs, rebuilding cabins and installing new electrics, plumbing and household devices.

The vessel is a stunning semi-custom build and for the external length offers unrivalled amounts of internal volume and number of cabins. She has been refitted to be a cruising ready liveaboard, offering all comforts of a small house as well as providing the possibility of cruising around and visiting different marinas.

When the current owners first moved on board, they did not know what the next years would hold. Now with 2 children, they have decided to move ashore to give the children more space at home to run around and grow up. The boat was bought as a project and over the last 5 years the boat has been stripped back to bare composite and rebuilt to a high standard. Utilising Tropical Sapele Hardwood and external grade plywood, the cabins have been fitted out to look luxurious whilst offering all amenities required for a full time liveaboard boat.

No money has been spared to refit the boat and a few key works are; reinforcing the decks and carrying out all required GRP repairs, re-gelling the flybridge and repainting the hull, insulating the interior to allow living aboard even in sub-zero temperatures, construction of built in furnishings with tropical hardwood and adding mains powered fridge and freezer. On the technical side, the boat is a very capable vessel at sea and benefits from brand new, four bladed propellors on 2” stainless shafts, Perkins Sabre M300Ti engines which are connected to a convertor allowing all engine data to be viewed on the chartplotter installed on the flybridge, new navigation equipment with NMEA 2000 network and new LED navigation lights. To provide further comfort whilst in harbour and at sea, the boat has had a full set of brand new covers including: aft deck enclosure, flybridge bimini, flybridge console cover and a set of insulated window covers for the saloon.

Cabins

Master cabin

The master cabin spans the whole width of the boat and sits under the aft deck. It houses the two main fuel tanks and has been fitted out with a king size bed on the starboard side and custom made cupboards and a wardrobe on the port side.

Aft Single Cabin

The aft cabin is in the final stages of fitout and is just missing some panels. These are due to be installed imminently. This cabin has a small single bunk in it as well as a cupboard and a wardrobe.

Aft Heads

The aft heads have been fitted out to a high standard with Sapele facias and doors. A glass top mounted sink is located on the aft bulkhead with a brass waterfall tap. An electric toilet is installed in the aft heads, which also houses the washer dryer against the forward bulkhead. The washer/dryer is incorporated into the cupboards which cover the forward end of the heads.

Saloon

The Saloon is a comfortable cabin to relax in, with sapele cupboards and sideboard on the port side and a three-seater sofa on the starboard side. The fridge and freezer under sideboard and an internal console and steering position are located to port. To starboard there are storage lockers behind the sofa as well as a drinks cabinet located on the aft end of the saloon.

Galley

The galley has plenty of space for kitchen utensils, pots and pans and offers a good location to cook on the Zanussi gas hob or 230V oven, even when underway.

Some minor cosmetic work is ongoing in the galley but nothing which affects its functionality.

Shower

On the starboard side of the forward accommodation area there is a dedicated shower cubicle. This is currently being used as storage, however the shower can easily be reinstated.

Fwd Cabin

The fwd cabin has a V berth as well as shelving and a cupboard. It also gives access to the anchor locker through a hatch mounted on the forward bulkhead.

Exterior

Main Deck

The main deck has been reinforced from underneath, the deck flooded with epoxy in areas where delamination was apparent and the deck recoated with grey gelcoat. New railings have been installed all around the deck. The hatches for the aft and forward cabin have been replaced recently with Bainbridge hatches. A windlass is located on the forward deck and although old, is still fully functioning.

In 2023 a canvas enclosure was installed over the aft deck and insulated covers made for the saloon windows.

Flybridge

The flybridge has the main steering location with chartplotter, depthsounder, MFD and VHF installed. The VHF is a modern DSC VHF so will require reregistering to the new owner. Furthermore, the helm has an inbuilt seat, and at the back of the flybridge a storage box is tied to the railings. The flybridge also allows access to the A Frame.

Hull

The hull has also had large amounts of work to it, from removing excess skin fittings and through hulls following appropriate standards. In 2023 the hull was also sanded down, faired and painted using a Jotun Epoxy Primer and topcoat system.

Systems

All systems on the boat have been replaced, including 24V and 230V electronics (32A shorepower) and fresh water plumbing and water tanks.

The boat has a range of systems installed to make living on board comfortable including deckhead vents in the saloon and vents, NMEA 2000 network for engine data and Victron charger and shunt with Bluetooth capability.
