Beautiful Classic Nauticat 33 from 1974

The Nauticat 33 is a real classic. A ketch rigged pilothouse motorsailer with a wooden superstructure and fibreglass hull. The Nauticat 33 has an enviable record of superb craftsmanship in its design and build. From 1974 to 2020 she lived in Finland, where boats are only in the water for 3 to 4 months per year. For the remaining 8 to 9 months they are stored inside to protect them from the severe winters. So, in effect, her "on water" life has been less than 15 years in total, so the "wear and tear" is equivalent to a younger “all year round” boat.

Sailed her back from Finland, across the Baltic Sea, perfection. North Sea got rough, Bft 8, but she loved it. The rougher the better. Absolutely solid!!

In Weymouth for a year or two then over to France. Currently registered on the UK SSR, previously registered in Finland. Unstepped masts in Rouen and then through the French Canals. Secondary stern wheel is useful in the canals. Stepped masts in Port St Louis and then to Barcelona. From there to Gibraltar, didn’t miss a beat. Up to 15 to 18 knts run with the 3 sails (genoa, main and mizzen). 20 and over drop the main. Steady as she goes. Easy to sail, had to sail single handed a few times, no problems. Coming into port/marinas a breeze with the bow and stern thrusters. Can even do a 360 degree turn if you must!

Long keel keeps her steady, solid hull is a reassurance in tricky situations. No flimsy wafer thin fibreglass here!

Very recently refurbished at Soremar Boatyard with new antifouling and boot top painting (following comprehensive sanding and preparation). Hull cleaned/polished. Pilothouse and other areas, sanded back and revarnished. New anodes (prop shaft, stern thruster, hull). New fender covers, new flags and flag lines. Bathing platform repaired with teak recycled from the "Cutty Sark".
