Construction

The yacht conforms with the essential safety requirements of Directive 94/25EC or RCDII (2013/53/EU as appropriate (Recreational Craft Directive) and is categorised A – “Ocean”

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

  • Hull and deck are built in female moulds and are laminated as a sandwich with biaxial glass fibres and unidirectional carbon fibres impregnated with Epoxy-vinylester resin.
  • Further biaxial and unidirectional carbon fibre reinforcements are positioned in areas that are mainly exposed to high stress. This also optimizes the resistance and weight of the hull.
  • Furthermore, crossed unidirectional carbon fibres maximize the rigidity of the hull.
  • Core (AIREX) of different densities, is vacuum bonded. Single skin areas are provided and reinforced around keel, rudder, seacocks and hull fittings for maximum strength.
  • The core of the deck is in PVC (AIREX) and is vacuum bonded. The areas near the deck equipment are reinforced with marine plywood and Peralumen aluminium suitable for marine use. Near the mast the deck is reinforced with SORIC sandwich core.
  • Hull and deck are bonded together using a structural acrylic glue derived from the aircraft
  • industry.
  • The bulwark is integrated to the hull in order to guarantee greater torsional rigidity with brass reinforcements for stanchions, pulpits and deck equipment.
  • The carbon bowsprit is perfectly integrated into the hull creating a flush line that permits to trim perfectly both gennaker and code 0.

Keel & Rudder:

  • The standard keel is fixed and has a reverse ‘T’ shape. It is made of a steel blade and lead bulb. It is coupled to the hull with a steel plate recessed to the hull to minimize friction and reduce local loads. Epoxy products are applied to the surface of the keel. Epoxy corrosion protection is applied to the keel which is also equipped with sacrificial anode.
  • The rudder has a generous surface, that guarantees the maximum manoeuvrability even in light winds. The fin is in sandwich made of GRP and expanded high density PVC closed foam covered with a superficial finishing epoxy treatment. The rudder axis is made with stainless steel 17-4PH, circle section tapered towards the end with brackets welded to it inside the fin in order to guarantee strength and rigidity. It rotates onto self-aligning bearings, the one to the hull in PEEK ensures the maximum fluidity even when stressed. A twin steering system is designed with a small number of pulleys minimising friction and is easy accessible from the large stern locker. The emergency tiller is secured directly to head of the rudder by using an inspection cap in the cockpit.
