Boat Details

The Contessa 32 was first introduced in 1973, designed by David Sadler for build by Jeremy Rogers. When J. Rogers ceased production, M. J. Slack Yachts took over production and were lauded for their high fit out and quality of the joinery. 

Checkmate sports the sail no CO906, moulded in 1989 and certificated by the Class association on the 6th July 1990 for the first owner.  Checkmate enjoyed a substantial refit and upgrade by J. Rogers in 2008.

The second and current owner purchased her in 1998 and has enjoyed her fully, cruising the Solent and South Coast. Never raced in current ownership. 

The Contessa 32 is a design that strikes a balance between speed, seagoing ability and accommodation. This longstanding endurance of the model is testament to its design and robust build quality.

• Single skin grp hull with encapsulated fin keel containing resin cast ballast.
• White gelcoat with light blue stripes and waterline stripe.
• Hull stripped January 2024, faired, epoxied and re-antifouled.
