History of Bertram

Bertram Yachts was founded by Richard "Dick" Bertram in 1960 in Miami, Florida. Born out of Bertram's experience as a competitive sailor and yacht broker, the company quickly made a name for itself with the release of the Bertram 31, a deep-V hull design that revolutionised the sportfishing yacht industry. The Bertram 31's performance in rough seas and its successful racing pedigree established the brand as a leader in maritime innovation and durability.Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Bertram expanded its product line to include a range of sportfishing and cruising yachts, maintaining a reputation for quality and high performance. During this period, the brand capitalised on its technological advancements by incorporating feedback from professional sportfishermen and cruising enthusiasts. However, like many traditional yacht builders, Bertram faced challenges in adapting to changing market conditions and ownership shifts over the ensuing decades.Today, Bertram Yachts operates out of Tampa, Florida, having moved its headquarters from Miami. The company continues to focus on building high-quality sportfishing yachts that honour its legacy of innovation and excellence. Under new ownership and management, Bertram has revitalised its line-up with modern amenities and construction techniques, while adhering to the design principles that made the brand iconic.
