A lovely Arcona 430, with one careful owner from new. 'Swift' has been beautifully maintained and cruised extensively, but never raced. She has twin wheels, full Selden electric in- mast furling, the popular 3 cabin lay-out with two heads and a host of optional upgrades.
The Arcona 430 was Winner of the European Yacht of the Year in 2009. Designed by Stefan Qviberg, this Swedish build is a full sized 43 foot yacht with thoroughbred good looks and impressive performance, she is also comfortable and spacious below and equipped for both family and two up cruising.
'Swift' has just had a professional 'cut and polish' to hull, top sides, coach roof & cockpit. Together with a recent teak treatment, engine service, water maker service, anti-foul and gas certificate; she really is sparkling and ready to go!
General Description
The Arcona 430 offers a different dimension in cruiser-racing, without compromise on performance or comfort. Designed as a performance cruiser, she is a yachtsman's dream – truly competitive in performance terms and luxurious below decks, offering unrivalled ambience, space, light and comfort.
Structurally, she is built around a massive steel framework that takes all the loads from the mast, rig, and keel, rather than dissipating the stresses through the hull. These features not only make her immensely strong but also allow the rig to be well tensioned with no danger of the hull distorting. She is classified as a CE category 'A' Ocean going vessel.
The hull and decks are made from 20mm thick Divinycell foam, sandwiched between a tough water resistant multi-axial polyester laminate. The bulk heads and interior are laminated to the hull and deck to give additional strength and rigidity.
Her sailing capability can be summed up in three words: balanced, stiff and direct. Feedback through the wheel is intuitive and the deep rudder provides an excellent grip. "Her steering is positive with just enough feedback and very little lock – fantastic" (Duncan Kent, Sailing Today). She has also been praised for her crew-friendly design: large foredeck area, wide side-decks and all lines leading aft to the cockpit.
Below decks 'Swift' lives up to anticipation: warm Khaya mahogany, Swedish quality and rich comfort. A white headlining and 6ft 4in standing room in the saloon/galley combine to give a welcoming feeling of space and light.
Features include a curved seating area around the table, which can accommodate seven and converts to a double berth; double-sink galley; large top-opening fridge and good stowage. The identical aft cabins are a good size and the forward cabin offers a queen size bed, ample lockers, hanging space and roomy private ensuite. With blue upholstery, her teak and holly floor boards have just been professionally re-sanded and varnished this Autumn.
