The 3900 Sovran among the first boats to be designed specifically for Volvo's then new IPS drive system. Pod drives don't just outperforms conventional inboard power; they also require less engine room space that, in turn, allows to increase interior volume in a meaningful way.    That meant additional room below the bridge deck for living quarters.
