PRAIA est un cotre aurique de 26 metres en bois resineux qui a ete construit en 1927 au Portugal.
Concu pour le fret de sel a Alcochete jusqu en 1975. PRAIA est un voilier de charge a fond "plat".
Les 62 tonnes de bois resineux ont etes concus pour transporter une cargaison de 70 tonnes.
Ce qui fait de ce voilier un navire fonctionnant mieux sous voiles quand les cales sont remplies.
PRAIA a ete equipe d un moteur diesel en 1965 et j ai travaille jusqu a la revolution des "oeillets" (chute de la dictature salazariste qui dominait le Portugal depuis 1933) pour un proprietaire de marais salant.
Les normes Europeennes du moment me vouent alors comme tant d autres navires a la destruction dans les annees 80...Mais PRAIA est aujourd hui inscrit au patrimoine.
Suivi depuis plus de 10 ans par le chantier BERNADOU de Canet pour la refection des oeuvres vives. Restauration complete sur 50 mois.
Le greement a subi un refit complet en 2015 et 2016 et les voiles revisees.
