The Lagoon 440 speaks for itself. A much improved example.

A well designed, well built luxurious cruising catamaran.

Spacious, comfortable, well equipped, globe travelling catamaran.

The Lagoon 440 is one of the most versatile and well appointed catamarans in this price range. We are still liveaboards, currently exploring the Caribbean, so the boat is in current use. We have put a lot of love into this vessel, including standing rigging replaced new 2023.

Official escape hatch safety upgrades are completed in both hulls.

The generous flybridge command and seating position provides an incredible 360-degree view allowing everyone to participate in crewing and sailing.

The outdoor living space on a Lagoon 440 is tough to beat. A full size, integral hard top bimini covers the aft seating cockpit. Added window tentage panels for weather protection, or mesh panels for privacy. Extra forward lounging space, with a tarpaulin shade available to cover the trampolines and forward seating. Two bow seats facilitate the inevitable dolphin encounters, or perhaps just a quiet corner to enjoy a book or “sundowner”.

A bluetooth zonal sound system with 6 speakers adds to the ambiance while sailing, or resting at anchor. Digital Yacht 4G WiFi can put the whole boat securely online with any locally connected SIM card.

Passage to and from the saloon and galley is unhampered. There is a large dining table both in the saloon and in the aft cockpit. A large sliding window additionally connects the galley to the aft dining area. Headroom is generous throughout.

The saloon on the bridge deck bridging the 2 hulls is an open floor area with an enviable 360 degree panoramic view, that includes a comfortable settee and dining table. Vertical windows maximise headroom throughout, whilst minimising sun intrusion. There is a swivel bracket, wall mounted, 43" wide-screen smart LG TV and Panasonic Blu Ray/DVD player.

It was our desire that Island Dreamer be set up to be gas free. Therefore included are induction hob, grill, oven and microwave. We have not yet removed the original working gas system. So the 3 burner hob and Eno oven are available should you prefer to continue this option.

1600W of solar and 400W wind turbine backing up the 800Ah lithium batteries, with 3000W inverter, powers us easily through the days. Victron control system with Bluetooth. If you were unfortunate that the weather failed to meet your needs, the 11kVA Onan generator provides you ample onboard mains supply. Both main engines will also charge the batteries, if motoring.

On solar alone, using the washing machine around the mid day will barely move the batteries off 100%. Going electric simplified our lives not having to source gas everywhere. Admittedly in the Med or Caribbean, we generally only use solar.

A washer/drier machine is fully fitted. It is wired to accept power from the inverter, or shore power or generator. Samsung A+ rated for electrical and water efficiency. There is plenty of refrigeration with a cockpit refrigerator/freezer and a large fridge in the galley.

Hot water is heated only with mains electricity available or right hand engine running. It is stored in an insulated tank.

The aft cabins have queen-size island beds. Forward cabins have wide v-mattresses. All mattresses were replaced new 2022. All cabins have fans. All domestic lights are LED. All cabins are ensuite with toilet, shower, sink and vanity units.

Island Dreamer has never been exposed to hurricane, or other tropical storm.

Large vertical windows and curtains facilitate your views out, whilst keeping the saloon and cabins comfortable, discrete and private.

Dual cycle heat exchanger (air conditioning/heating) is fitted, as is an Esbercher heater. Air-conditioning does require mains supply from shore or onboard generator.

Island Dreamer is set up to be electrically independent. With a 3kva inverter supplying mains 220v from a set of 4 lithium batteries, most normal needs are met through solar recharging. The large lithium battery bank charging is managed by Victron BMS units. Each Lithium battery unit has it's own inbuilt BMU also. Victron app or screen is available to monitor. Additionally a wind generator, main engine alternators, or mains can provide further battery charging. The wind generator is the highly rated Eclectic energy D400. Rated as 420W in 28 kts and starts to produce at only 5 kts. Solar alone normally has us back to 100% by 0900. Even in a marina, we generally have no need for shore power.

For example; last night I cooked an evening meal after dark and watched Netflix until 2200. Overnight charged phone and tablets, run fridges and all domestics. At sunrise the batteries had only dropped to 87%. They were back at 100% before 0800. Sunset 1901. Sunrise 0611.

Each main engine has an independent starter battery with cross connect. A quiet Onan generator has its own dedicated starter battery, with remote automated start and safety shutdown monitor system.

The mainsail is hoisted by one of the electric battery powered winches, it makes setting sails quick and fun. The battened mainsail is fitted with adjustable lazy jacks that can be spread to help clear the battens for trouble free hoisting. The main sail has 2 position continuous reefing lines. Standard furling Genoa is fitted and a bowsprit Solent rig available for light wind sails.

The primary anchor is a Mantus with electric windlass - a quick setting, reliable, highly rated, new generation anchor. It has 100M of chain with 10M interval colour coded bands. There is an anchor bridle to make sitting at anchor much more stable and secure. The secondary anchor is a Rocna - another of the most highly rated new generation anchors. It has 50M chain and 50M rode. (It has a larger gauge chain - a second gypsy available to fit this.) Both anchors are bow mounted with all chain and rode stowed in the anchor locker, in sequence.

Dinghy RIB (new 2022) with outboard (new 2022) complete with oars, anchor, fuel tank, chain & lock. The dinghy is mounted on davits with further electric winch available if required. There is a mounting plate on the pushpit for the outboard motor.

The navigation suite is Raymarine. There are 3 chart plotters (2 at bridge helm, 1 at nav table) the primary screen at helm is a touch screen model. 3 further small multifunction displays i70 (2 at bridge helm, 1 at nav table) display wind/water speed/depth etc. NMEA 2000 links all systems together.

Comfortable nav station with swivel seat and discreet lighting. Twin throttles at flybridge helm and nav station allow for the boat to be controlled from the comfort of the cabin if the worst weather dictated. The flybridge helm has a bimini and transparent weather panels so for us was always the workable option.

Autopilot control is at bridge helm, (but is also controllable from any plotter screen).

Radar and AIS are controlled through the multifunctional plotter screens. Radar is Raymarine Quantum, new 2022. The AIS is both transmit and receive, we think it the best traffic safety aid. We can leave our Samsung navigation multi GPS tablet, but will perform factory reset to remove personal sensitive information. We have run Navionics on this GPS tablet. Charts are digital, cheap and easy to update. Plotters can be loaded with “old school” SD cards if required.

All these electronics are linked by SeaTalk and NMEA2000.

Navigation lights are the uprated LED units.

A base unit VHF is at the helm with an additional independent VHF base unit at the nav station. We like the idea of redundancy back up, you may have noted the recurring theme! Three additional handheld vhf units (2 waterproof/floating models).

Also included is a sat phone and a Zoleo SATCOM unit. Zoleo is an amazing low cost 2 way texting, emergency alerting and weather updates device via satellite, or can even connect to local mobile network without a local subscription. So it works everywhere. When it finds a land base connection, it is free within your Zoleo contract.

Each cabin has a smoke/CO2 alarm. There are 6 fire extinguishers onboard. 4 dry powder and 2 Lithium rated. There is a fire blanket and McMurdo EPIRB with AIS function. We have really tried to make this a properly equipped safe ocean traveller.

Nearly everything is included; from ocean rated life jackets with AIS MOB dedicated to alert onboard nav, but will also alert to all AIS receivers in range; to binoculars; to Jerry cans for additional fuel; water hose; shore power lead with adapter, adult, child and infant flotation jackets. Dyson battery vacuum cleaner. Mains powered wet vac. I'm sure I will have missed things out. All parts, spares, consumables, wet/dry vac, folding ladder, etc can stay. But amongst the few things I am keeping are my personal tools.

Also staying are various waterproofs, SUP & paddles, masks, snorkels & fins, wetsuit and other water toys.

We have an offshore emergency medical first aid kit, suitable for ocean crossing or remote cruising. It does contain controlled substances that require the owner to hold suitable certification. 2 of our crew completed the UK MCA certificates of Proficiency in Medical First Aid and Medical Care. Sorry, but we cannot legally include this if the next owner does not have the appropriate in date qualification. Perhaps obviously, most pharmaceuticals are date limited and not sold assured in date, we hope you understand.

We wanted Island Dreamer to be comfortable for liveaboard sailors who want to enjoy the extended cruising lifestyle. You can go off-grid for weeks using the solar, refrigeration/freezer, and copious water supply. This boat is designed to look after you safely almost anywhere. We crossed the Atlantic ocean comfortably, safely and arrived with food and water left over.

We have loved this boat. It has looked after us incredibly well. It was our dream. Unfortunately due to changes in personal circumstances we are pushed towards a sale and change of lifestyle.
