Construction

RCD Status: The yacht conforms with the essential safety requirements of Directive 94/25EC or RCDII (2013/53/EU as appropriate (Recreational Craft Directive) and is categorised A – “Ocean” for 12 persons on board.

 

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

  • Hull, deck and superstructure are massively-constructed glass reinforced plastic mouldings constructed in accordance with Lloyds-approved drawings.
  • Isophthalic gelcoats are used for increased resilience to moisture ingress and are backed up with three layers of isophthalic resin followed by the main laminate of specially designed combination matts and unidirectional wovings.
  • The hull topsides are solid laminate for long term durability.
  • All frames, bulkheads and floors are individually bonded-in for added strength.
  • Ivory gelcoat to hull, topsides and superstructure (excellent gloss level to surface).
  • Teak-capped toe-rails surrounding full walk-around decks.
  • Teak laid side decks, fore-deck sunbathing area, bathing platform, steps and cockpit areas.
  • Lifted May 2024 for hull polishing, anodes and teak treatement, with new window wrap-around mesh protection by Elite Covers, Sunbrella Prestige aft canvas covers checked and re-proofed.
  • Hull was stripped back in 2019 by SymBlast, surface prepared and Copper-Coated.
  • Jet-drive components stripped down, and grilles cleaned and re-coated with antifouling during same period (see drive section later). Hamilton service to jets May 2024.
  • Bathing platform hatches allow direct access to jets for inspection and maintenance.

Machinery

Engines & Gearboxes:

  • 2 x Caterpillar C12 diesel engines – rated to 704HP @ 2300RPM.
  • 6-cylinder inline 4-stroke diesel, 12 litre capacity, turbo-chargers and after-cooled.
  • Engine hours – c.390 at May 2024. Sea trial with diagnostics May 2024, prior to lifting.
  • Cruising Speed: 20 - 22 knots approx.
  • Max Speed: 27 knots approx.
  • Engines with electronic controls and instruments.
  • Additional engine monitoring gauges mounted to engine blocks with emergency engine stops in engine bay.

  • Raymarine engine room monitoring camera (linked to main console Raymarine MFD).

 

Propulsion & Steering:

  • 2023 upgrade by Helmsman Systems on jet control system: new mechanical controls with dual lever throttle and bucket controls for precise handling.
  • Slow-vessel mode for precise close-quarters handling.
  • Hamilton 362 jet drives (returned to HamJet 2021 for full factory refurbishment in 2021, including new impellers, seals and anodes). Bedding-in service by HamJet March 2022, laying up service May 2024.
  • Sidepower bow thruster and remote control - fitted 2021 by Osmotech. (NB: remote also operates windlass.)
  • Electro-hydraulic Bennett trims tabs, with Bennett rocker controls to console (stripped down with new seals in 2021).

 

Maintenance:

  • Winterised May 2024, with annual engine servicing to Caterpillars, regardless of operating hours. Last Service – Summer 2023.
  • Jet servicing by Hamilton Jet. May 2024

 

In addition to above:

  • 2018 – Greenham Marine supplied and fitted new Raymarine System. Also rewired all bridge controls, hi-fi, TV, new LED navigation lights and cockpit lighting.
  • 2019 – full refurbishment of all teak in cockpit, new hatches and headlining throughout cockpit.
  • 2020/21 - New stainless ram for passerelle + full service of pump and lift system – Osmotech.
  • Full strip down/re-build of HFL/Isuzu generator Feb 2022
  • New fridges x 2 installed Feb 2022 to galley.
  • New fwd. head Vacuflush system installed + new fresh water pump (February 2022).
  • Engine aftercooler cores & anodes replaced, rebuilt with new seals and gaskets, (as per Caterpillar service schedule) in August 2022.

Electrical Systems

Voltage Systems:

  • 24V ships battery systems with 12V droppers/converters as required.
  • 220V ring main with shore power (32a supply).
  • Primary DC link box with HRC fuse links for all high capacity DC circuits and incorporating shunt and voltage take off to panel incorporating maintained supplies for bilge pumps etc.
  • 24V DC control and distribution panel compromising: analogue voltmeter & ammeter for battery state, isolator breakers, holding tank controls, fresh water tank status, alarms (bilge & fire), and domestic pump switching.
  • Electrical system and controls refit in 2018 by Greenham Marine.

 

Battery Banks:

  • Main bank of 6 batteries (new 2021) for total capacity of 1000Ah.
  • 24V deep cycle service battery system (10 x 115Ah) – new 2023
  • 24V port (4 x 115Ah) & starboard (4 x 115Ah) starter battery systems for main engines and generators.
  • Battery isolator switches & battery link switch.

 

Battery Chargers:

  • Victron Scylla-TG 240V 24V/50A automatic battery charger.

 

Alternators:

  • Heavy-duty high-output 24V DC 60Amp alternators on main engines.

 

Generator:

  • HFL 13.5kw 12V DC/220V AC generator in engine bay.
  • Last Service – Summer 2023.
  • Fully stripped down in 2022, new heat exchanger, hoses and seals fitted.
  • Running hours: c.137 at May 2024.
  • HMI water separator /silencer system for generator.
  • Racor R20P fuel/water separator for generator.

 

Shore Power:

  • 32A shore inlet to cockpit, with shore power cable(s).

 

Other Electrical:

  • Garbage compactor fitted to galley sink.

Plumbing Systems

Fresh Water & Water Heating System:

  • Pressurized 24V DC water system (pump system renewed for 2021).
  • Hot water supply via 70 litre insulated hot water cylinder with 220V AC immersion heater element with 5 litre accumulator, plus direct from Port Engine system.
  • Hot/cold shower on aft platform.

 

Bilge Pumps:

  • The yacht is divided into four watertight compartments (Forward galley bilge, tank bay bilge, aft bilge and engine bay bilge). Each compartment is serviced by an electric bilge pump (controlled from DC panel by galley), with automatic/manual control and high level LED/acoustic alarms.
  • Additionally, the engine room is further protected by a second high capacity manual Whale water pump and fire hose (under helm seat) and an auto bilge pump at main console.
  • All pumps serviced annually.

Tankage

  • Specific tank space below lower saloon cabin sole with large access hatch for excellent, direct access.
  • Chequer-plate walkway over centreline with tanks and pumps positioned outboard and forward.
  • 2021 - Tanks emptied, treated and flushed 2021, all fuel hoses replaced.

 

Fuel:

  • 4 x 820 litre (180 Imp. gallons) painted aluminium fuel tanks (totalling 3280 litres / 720 Imp. gallons) located in tank bay in two banks of two tanks (port & starboard), sized for easy removal (with no structural work) with top inspection covers and sight gauges. All tanks tied down with stainless retaining straps.
  • Tanks connected via manifold system with shut-offs at base of tank – new and improved 2021.
  • Emergency fuel shut-off at aft deck level.
  • Analogue tank gauges (port & starboard banks) at console.
  • Stainless steel deck fillers.

 

Fresh Water:

  • 2 x 500 litre (110 Imp. gallon) stainless steel water tanks (totalling 1000 litres / 220 Imp. gallons) located in tank bay to port & starboard.
  • Analogue tank gauge at AC/DC panel.
  • Stainless steel deck filler.

 

Holding Tank:

  • All showers and sinks discharge directly overboard via 24vDC sump pumps.
  • Both heads direct via Vacuflush to black water tank.

  • The forward console is fully trimmed in teak with companionway hatch and access door, with main controls to starboard.
  • Long upholstered bench seating to port, with useful long moulded storage locker beneath.
  • Twin adjustable helm seats sit on a custom–moulded GRP base to starboard, with lockers inset to the rear bulkhead, with refrigerator, sink, freshwater inlet, deckwash and masses of storage.
  • The deck is laid to teak, annually treated with Onward Trading Teak Oil.
  • Aft seating for eight on u-shaped sofa trimmed in luxury blue vinyl upholstery, with plenty of space for extra seating on four folding occasional chairs.
  • Twin folding leaf tables with GRP tops can form one large dining table at the aft end of the cockpit, for entertaining and dining al fresco, whilst enjoying the view.
  • The whole aft area can be opened up in fine weather, or fully enclosed using a well-engineered system of canvas curtains, with a solid deck gate to port enabling fast and secure access on and off deck.

  • Simpson Lawrence Spirit 3000 3kw 24V DC electric anchor windlass, with controls at foredeck, remote operation pendant (2021), and self-stowing polished stainless steel 30kg claw anchor, with anchor lock and 50m calibrated chain. Windlass fully stripped down 2018, serviced 2021.
  • Stainless steel bow fitting with single anchor roller, mounting plate for windlass and bow mooring cleats with starboard cleat doubling up as a samson post.
  • Heavy duty polished stainless steel cleats (five per side).
  • 4 blue fenders in fender baskets.
  • Braided blue Marlow warps.
  • Telescopic boat-hook.

 

Covers, Canvas & Cushions:

  • Full aft wrap-around canvas enclosure to wheelhouse in navy blue canvas with luxury cream interior lining – Sunbrella Prestige, fully checked and proofed May 2024.
  • Sunpad (white) to foredeck area (as new).

Safety Equipment

  • Raymarine camera CCTV system (2018).
  • 3Si Guardian Epirb fitted in bracket to aft bathing platform.

 

Fire-Fighting Equipment: (fully appraised for MCA and updated May 2024)

  • Automatic fire-heat detection in engine room and interior saloon – new sensors May 2024
  • Seafire automatic fire suppression system to machinery space (new May 2024).
  • Three manual fire extinguishers throughout accommodation (new August 2023).
  • Remote fuel cut-offs and fire hose with pump at aft wheelhouse locker (checked 2024)

2024 Spring Works:

  • FireGuard Services update – system already meets MCA standards, however upgraded optical smoke detectors now installed,  new Seafire Novec 1230 Auto master cylinder in engine room.  New extinguishers throughout in 2023.
  • Elite Covers - refurbish and proofing of aft cockpit awning and roof lining in Sunbrella Plus, Oyster.
  • Elite Covers - Soltis 86 Mesh - new helm/saloon UV wrap-around window protection to both levels – bronze mesh, black trim and stainless fittings.
  • Steam clean of upholstery and carpets throughout, fully valeted throughout.
  • Jets to be disassembled by Hamilton UK, impellors, seals and housings to be cleaned and treated, new anodes throughout + anti-fouled.
  • Engines and generator to be winterised, all seacocks and systems to be checked and lubricated – diagnostics from sea trial prior to lifting, May 2024.
  • Coppercoat to be prepared for re-launch, waterline boot top painted blue.

 

Summer 2023:

  • Service of engines, jets and generator.
  • Flush of intercoolers.
  • Sea trialled with diagnostics.

 

May 2023:

  • Design and installation of simplified/commercial level reliability, new cabled steering and throttle systems from helm to engine/jets – Peter Morgan, Helmsman Systems and formerly Head of Systems & Engineering at Hamilton Jets UK.
  • 2 x new Kobelt 2009 chrome twin throttle controls for throttle/ jet controls, at helm.
  • New Wagner/Jastram B38-120 balanced cylinder for steering + new steering in stainless
  • Cables and joints/connectors throughout.
