The 180’ PENDENNIS 55-meter Steel Explorer yacht built by Pendennis Shipyard in the United Kingdom is now available for sale. Delivered in 2009 and fully repainted in 2025, this expedition yacht is a rare example of a true oceangoing vessel that combines expedition capability with refined comfort. Her ice-classed steel hull, timeless English interior, and exceptional technical pedigree make her one of the most distinctive yachts in her category.

This stunning 55m ice-class expedition yacht represents our largest volume project to date and one of the most original bespoke projects built at Pendennis. Her elegant interior styling and robust exterior lines are the result of a collaboration between the yacht Owner, Pendennis and yacht designers Liebowitz & Pritchard Architecture + Yacht Design, whilst the naval architecture was completed by Burness Corlett & Partners in Southampton. Built to +100 AL Lloyds, 1A Ice Class, she’s also fully MCA compliant with long range capabilities.

Indeed, this PENDENNIS 55M STEEL motor yacht is ice-classed with a 3cm thick steel hull capable of breaking through 80cm of ice, a testament to her engineering excellence. She has proven her reliability on long-range journeys and remains in exceptional condition following continuous maintenance and a full repaint in 2025.

Unique to the PENDENNIS 55M STEEL Expedition yacht, are her carefully curated features: a diesel-heated endless pool with artificial current, a bow-mounted dolphin observation basket, and a wine cellar for 600 bottles paired with an adjoining cigar bar. The atmosphere on board blends exploration spirit with refined living, offering discreet speakeasy-style corners and elegant relaxation spaces throughout.

Inside, this PENDENNIS 55M STEEL Superyacht, reflects the warmth and sophistication of a classic English Gentlemen’s club. The interior, designed by Liebowitz & Partners, accommodates 12 guests across 7 spacious cabins, including a main deck Master suite, two VIPs, and four twin cabins, each with additional bunk beds. In addition a single staff (“nanny’s cabin”), is also present. The yacht is equipped with advanced entertainment and communication systems throughout, including LG Oled TVs, Yamaha amplifiers, and Apple TV 4K in all main areas and cabins. The crew area, designed for efficiency and comfort, houses up to 12 crew members in six cabins.

Powered by twin 1100 Hp CAT diesel engines, the yacht boasts a maximum speed of 13.5 knots, while cruising comfortably at 10 knots with an impressive range of 10,000 nautical miles. With her Quantum Zero Speed stabilizers, advanced navigation systems, and expedition-grade galley with a walk-in refrigerator, she is ready for extended voyages to even the most remote destinations.

The vessel employs state-of-the-art systems, fitout, and equipment - much of it bespoke. Built primarily in steel with aluminium deckhouse and upperworks, the 800+ ton vessel has a rounded stern underbody which effectively aids ship stability in following seas. At anchor, four Quantum zero-speed stabilisers attenuate roll substantially. whilst ensuring comfort and safety on long voyages.

Exterior features include imposing high prow, functional “work deck” forward, hydraulic Rondal elevating crow’s nest, expansive sundeck, hydraulic side “beaches”, 29ft jet Owner’s tender (amongst others), active-current spa pool, sophisticated boarding systems, and sculptural rounded stern.

The yacht returned to Pendennis in 2016 for minor engineering and survey works. Her hull was repainted to midnight blue, a stark contrast to her previous unique green hull in 2025.
