This is a lovely example of the Moody 36 — a centre-cockpit yacht that somehow blends palatial accommodation with fine performance.
The Moody 36 is one of Bill Dixon’s most admired designs: solidly built by Marine Projects in Plymouth, with 118 launched between 1996 and 2000. The clever layout delivers remarkable comfort for her size, while the centre cockpit — rare on a yacht of this length — provides safe, sheltered sailing and excellent visibility under way.
Moment has been in her current ownership since 2021 and has been thoroughly enjoyed for South Coast and cross Channel cruising. She has benefited from continuous care and a steady programme of upgrades.
She is particularly well equipped, featuring new in 2025 standing rigging, Raymarine Axiom+ 9 touchscreen plotter with integrated GPS, AIS and Quantum Doppler radar (all 2022), Raymarine SmartPilot, and Eberspächer heating. Sails include a 2021 Sanders Vectran fully-battened mainsail and genoa, plus a 2022 Sanders cruising chute. She also carries a Zodiac Aero 240 dinghy with Honda 2.3 hp outboard.
On deck, her beautifully maintained teak sets her apart; the cockpit teak has been professionally renewed by Berthon in recent years. Her Volvo engine has seen proper use combined with careful maintenance — fully overhauled by a Volvo dealer on purchase and serviced annually along with the saildrive (new diaphragm in 2021).

Owner's Comments
MOMENT is remarkably fast for her displacement and her relatively conservative sail area has been optimised by the Sanders sails. She is well balanced and light to steer. With the solar panels and large water tanks we’ve happily spent several days at a time, comfortably living aboard without any need for services. She takes lively seas very well and always feels safe and secure on the water. We have enjoyed cruises to France and the West Country and will miss our passages and weekends in the Solent, but time and tide waits for no man and with great regret it is time to end my sailing.
