Here is what the Power Boat Guide had to say about the Back Cove 30....

"Successor to the Back Cove 29, the Back Cove 30 is a featurerich single-diesel cruiser with the signature Down East styling common to all Back Cove models to date. The 30 is longer with slightly more beam than her predecessor with a revised interior that makes her a more comfortable cruiser. The galley-down layout is typical of most day cruisers this size but the craftsmanship of the Back Cove is extraordinary. The joinery and ceilings are varnished cherry, and teak and holly sole adds just the right touch of nautical elegance. Though the Back Cove 30 doesn’t include an aft wall (bulkhead), the helm deck offers comfortable seating for six and the port settee converts to an additional berth at night. Helm visibility is excellent in this boat thanks to the large windows. Thoughtful, molded-in fiberglass storage compartments are built in everywhere, including in the base for the deluxe Arrigoni helm chair. Standard features include cherry cabinets, swim platform, transom door, and an inlaid cherrywood table below. Note the deep anchor locker. Built on a foam-cored hull with moderate beam, she’ll cruise at 20 knots (25 top) with a Yanmar 315hp diesel. An optional 370hp Yanmar or Volvo Penta will cruise at 25 knots (about 30 top)......"

Manufacturer Provided Description

The style of the Down-East lobster boat is closely associated with Maine's proud boat building heritage. The Back Cove 30 is a grand example of everything that makes the Down-East lobster boat a work of art. She has a traditional spoon bow, and her transom is gently sloped: a style that will turn heads in any harbor she enters. Below the surface, she is modern and contemporary.

A resin infused, deep-vee hull with prop recess and standard trim tabs offers a quiet and comfortable ride. Equipped with her upgraded 370hp Volvo Penta diesel, she will cruise in the mid 25 knot range and top out near 30 knots. Around the docks, you will appreciate the maneuverability provided by her standard bow thruster and if circumstances require, the upgraded stern thruster is there when you need it. Her deck hardware is as rugged as the coastline she calls home.

Broker's comments

The current owners of Cygnet purchased her in 2016 from her first owner in North Carolina and she has been lift kept and cruised in Southwest Florida ever since. They were “Snowbirds”, so the boat was only used 6 months each year. The knowledgeable owner has kept Excellent Service records and has maintained Cygnet to lofty standards. Cygnet was on her lift for Hurricane Irma and Ian and did not have any damage. The owners are selling their home here in Punta Gorda and moving permanently to their home in Ohio, so Cygnet is now seriously for sale.

I was looking for some reviews on the Back Cove 30 I found this one:

Here are some excerpts from a Peter Janssen article in Maine Event Magazine, he is Currently the Editor and Co-Founder of both Cruising Odyssey and cruisingodyssey.com, and the former Editorial Director of Yachting, Editorial Director of Motor Boating, and Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of Motor Boating & Sailing.

“….The inviting L-shape seats built into the back of the cockpit can easily accommodate two couples and are comfortable both when anchored and when under way. Within the confines of a 30-foot boat, Back Cove managed to create two separate social areas — the open-air cockpit and the weather-protected helm deck. The redesigned helm deck also features new and expanded seating areas…. ”

“…The forward section of the cabin features a flexible arrangement that allows the V-berth to convert into a three-sided dining area. Throughout, the cabin has a warm nautical feel with a teak and holly sole, a Herreshoff-type wood treatment on the cabin side and a white overhead with cherry strips to match the hardtop over the helm deck. Back up top, the 30 provides the same wide side decks and sturdy handrails as its predecessor. But the hull has been redesigned with more tumblehome aft, while the corners of the transom repeat the camber of the hardtop. The spoon bow also has more flare to keep the boat dry, a quality I can attest to based on my time on board. In most conditions, the 30 is an easy-riding boat with 16-degree deadrise at the transom and a small prop pocket that gives a lower, more efficient angle to the drive shaft as well as reducing the draft…”

“I can easily imagine not only taking the Back Cove 30 around the protected coves and ocean waters of midcoast Maine, as we did, but also down the waterway to Florida, to the Bahamas or running around the San Juan Islands or the Chesapeake Bay. You’d be comfortable on board, and you’d be happy admiring the lines of your Down East hull if you sat in your dink or stood on the dock. In short, in moving up from the original 29 to the new 30, Back Cove did a very nice job in updating — and improving — one of its classics…”
