Tiny Living on the Blue Ocean

The wooden boat Aase was first launched on June 6, 1999. Despite her young age, she holds both character and soul. In recent years, she has undergone a transformation from a traditional sailboat to a seaworthy houseboat – made for the adventurous. In collaboration with professional shipwrights, the boat has been opened up with a focus on light, air, and a healthy atmosphere. The visible oak frames and solid larch planking create a safe and cozy oasis for the dream of life at sea.

The wheelhouse offers a standing height of 190 cm and, along with handcrafted windows, provides light and spaciousness – ideal for a hammock, yoga, or perhaps a creative studio? From here, you have a great overview of the boat, from the recently established aft berth/lounge, through the galley, and forward to the forecabin. Midships, there’s a handcrafted bathroom with a modern toilet and holding tank. Below deck, the ship’s carpenter has also built a foundation for a galley kitchen, giving future owners a durable base to realize their own dream kitchen. In the forecabin, light, space, and air have been created – perfect for clothing, shoes, gear… fishing rods, surfboards?

Aase’s deck is made of Oregon pine, which, after gentle sanding, shines with fresh grain and brightness, as if new. In recent years, the deck has been treated with professional Coelan varnish, making it virtually maintenance-free. There is ample space both below and on deck, ideal for hosting overnight guests.

Aase sails stably with ketch rigging: gaff-rigged mainsail, mizzen, jib, and staysail. She’s fitted with red-brown sails, a bowsprit with a handmade net in old maritime tradition, dual helms (inside and outside), and davits to mount a dinghy astern. The current owner has focused on transforming her into a liveaboard, and she is currently de-rigged with a custom winter tent – complete with large windows – included. This leaves the new owner free to finalize the practical finishes on the coachroof and storage hatches.

The engine is a 70 HP BLADT from 2015, with freshwater cooling and only 140 operating hours. She features hydraulic gear, a three-blade propeller, and an electrical system – including gel batteries, charger, inverter, and navigation equipment – ready for everyday cruising or extended voyages. Hydraulic anchor winches are installed at both bow and stern.

Aase combines a home, soulful retreat, and seaworthy vessel in one. The next owner will have a solid foundation to shape their own lifestyle on the water. With her current mooring in Aarhus, you can enjoy your morning coffee in the bay, anchor off Samsø in the afternoon, and dine on freshly caught fish in the evening. After a dip in the sea, relax in the spacious aft berth/lounge, warmed in the colder months by newly installed, high-performance Stroco 15.00 M radiators.

Please note: Viewings of Aase are by appointment only through Yachtbasen.
