LAZAWAY is a comprehensively equipped 1998 example of the evergreen, and justifiably popular, Grand Banks 42 motor yacht. With the best aft cabin available at this length, an exceptionally good wheelhouse deck, and superb machinery access, the Grand Banks 42 is perhaps the most practical passagemaker ever penned, and LAZAWAY is a particularly well set up vessel. Having completed her current adventuring – she is beautifully prepared to fulfil her next custodians’ dreams.

RCD Status: The yacht conforms with the essential safety requirements of Directive 94/25EC or RCDII (2013/53/EU as appropriate (Recreational Craft Directive) and is categorised A – “Ocean”

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

Fresh Water & Water Heating System:

• There is a pressurised hot and cold-water system via a large Seaward calorifier (hoses replaced May 2022) to all basins and showers, and holding tank to both heads with monitoring system.

Bilge Pumps:

• 3 x electric bilge pumps.
• Bilge pump float switch replaced (August 2025).

Tankage

Fuel:

• Total capacity of 2,270 litres / 600 gallons in two steel tanks.

• Luxurious accommodation offering 6 berths in 3 cabins with full standing headroom throughout, the saloon can also be utilised to provide further berths if necessary.
• The interior is finished with high quality cabinetry, upholstery, and parquet floors throughout and is in excellent condition.
• All internal upholstery and mattresses renewed (March 2022).
• Carpets replaced (April 2023).

Description of layout from forwards:

Forward Cabin:

• Large double vee berth with lighting, hanging locker and storage lockers.

Guest Cabin:

• Located to port, single bunk bed over a large single berth (a small double) with hanging locker, mirror, lighting, and storage.

Forward Heads:

• Located to starboard with a marine heads, wash basin, separated shower area and good stowage.

Saloon:

• Steps lead up to the light and comfortable wheelhouse/saloon which consists of the helm position and a large L-shaped dinette lounge aft to starboard, bar with extra top-loading portable refrigerator fitted to bar in lieu of original ice maker, and a galley set forward to port, with aft return for refrigerator and affording extra worktop area.
• Entertainment system including TV, DVD, radio, cassette, and CD equipment.

Galley:

• Galley area equipped with an electric oven, electric hob, fitted microwave, stainless steel sink, large fridge with freezer compartment, and storage lockers.
• Galley sink and work top are Corian.
• Plumbing for washer/drier (appliance not fitted).

Owner’s Aft Cabin:

• Steps down to a spacious aft cabin offering an offset island queen size berth, dressing table, numerous storage and hanging lockers and access to separate en-suite shower and heads compartments.

En-Suite Heads & Shower Compartments:

• Located to port is the large owner’s heads compartment with a marine toilet, wash basin, and ample stowage.
• On the other side of the aft cabin is a separate shower compartment complete with teak laid bathing seat.

Engine Room:

• Superbly accessible engine bay with all systems easily accessed, lighting, and ample room to maintain and service the engines and generator.
