Ypsilon is the last of three semi-custom Starkel-designed 41’ performance cruisers. They have been all conceived to perform in safety in both the weather conditions that usually are in the northern Adriatic Sea: either extremely light wind or strong ‘Bora’. Ypsilon is a great example of timeless Italian craftsmanship and design.

The Starkel 41 boat was born from the very close collaboration of Politec with Studio Starkel and some expert Owners, identifying some basic essential characteristics:

• Sleek hull lines devoted to fast navigation and very fast response under helm

• Sail plan for excellent performance even in extremely light winds.

• Extreme ease of handling even with minimum crew

• Retractable keel for accessing shallow waters.

• Great interior habitability up to 3 cabins with 2 bathrooms.

• Excellent balance between interior and exterior volumes.

• Open stern with gangway to enjoy open spaces.

• Halyards position below deck

• Compartment for liferaft below cockpit floor

• Underdeck jib furler drum

• Retractable bowsprit

SPECIFICATIONS

CONSTRUCTION

RCD Status:

• Our understanding is the vessel complies with CE Boat Category A-ocean.

Hull, Deck and Superstructure Construction:

• Composite sandwich construction with and outer skin of Kevlar fabric and unidirectional glass impregnated with vinyl-epoxy resins, an inner skin of unidirectional glass impregnated with vinyl-epoxy resins and vacuum-bagged closed-cell PVC foam core.

• The hull is reinforced at the fin box by an adapted structure/layer, and has a structural grid consisting of keel mezzanines, keel floorboards and lateral longitudinal structures.

• Bow section crashbox.

• Local reinforcements to chainplate attachments, motor-king crankcase, lower rudder bushing and engine saildrive. All reinforcements and structures have a unidirectional carbon lamination on the upper face (plate).

• The deck hull assembly takes place on the upper flange along the edge of the hull. The assembly perimeter is solid (not sandwiched). The bonding of the joint between the hull flange and the edge of the deck is ensured by the use of epoxy mastics and Biaxial fabric impregnated with epoxy resin complete the connection internally.

• The bulkheads are resin-bonded to the hull and deck providing reinforcement and stiffening structures, as well as ensuring the necessary compartmentalization and buoyancy.

• The aft bulkhead of the chain cove and the aft bulkhead closing the internal arrangements are watertight compartmentalization bulkheads.
