The R35’s hull is outfitted with the advanced Princess Active Foil System (AFS), developed in collaboration with Plymouth-based engineers from BAR Technologies and the iconic Pininfarina. These experts, renowned for their mastery of "flying boats" and foils, have seamlessly transitioned from the world of sailing to motorboats for this groundbreaking innovation. According to Princess engineers, the AFS reduces water resistance by 30%, enhancing both performance and fuel efficiency while ensuring exceptional stability.
The system features two carbon-fiber foils, each capable of independently adjusting by +/- 5 degrees. Their optimal positioning is automatically calculated by the onboard computer, which continuously monitors the vessel's pitch, roll, and heave acceleration using a high-precision Inertial Measurement Unit. The result is unparalleled agility and smooth handling, setting a new standard for luxury performance.
