Construction

RCD Status: Our understanding is that the yacht is exempt from the essential safety requirements of the Recreational Craft Directive as she was built and placed into use within the EU prior to 1998. 

 

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

  • Contest 40S built in 1994, first launched in 1995, by Contest Yachts in Holland to a Dick Zaal design.
  • White GRP hull and superstructure.
  • Teak laid decks and cockpit.
  • Round bilged hull.
  • Skin fittings and seacocks have been replaced where necessary in 2023.
  • New anodes (2023).

 

Keel & Rudder:

  • Wing keel.
  • Skeg hung rudder.

Machinery

Engine & Gearboxes:

  • 1 x Yanmar 4JH2-HTE 65hp diesel engine.
  • Engine fully refurbished in 2022/2023.
  • Heat exchanger overhaul in 2020.
  • New mounts fitted 2023.
  • Engine is believed to be larger than standard installation with thrust bearing and flex couplings for vibration-free and silent running.
  • Indirect cooling, mechanical gearbox with dampers fitted to control cable to prevent pedestal amplification of noise.
