This Colin Archer 56-foot rescue boat was built in 2002 at Bremnes Båtbyggeri, Averøy, according to designs by Colin Archer's "Russian Rescue Boat."

The building materials are pine, oak, and ash. The vessel is built with laminated frames and has a clinker-built laminated hull. It has a copper ice skin at the waterline and a ballast keel.

On board, there are comfortable conditions with 9 berths. These are distributed among 4 traditional pilot berths and 3 cabins.

The vessel has a well-equipped galley, as well as a bright and spacious salon, toilet, shower, central heating system, wood stove, and washing machine.

S/Y "Blåmann" is located in the idyllic harbor of Crotone, Southern Italy. It is registered in the Norwegian Ship Register with the call sign LMLA.

In the last year, the boat has received new masts and 2 new sails, and is otherwise well maintained.

Historical background for the construction of S/Y Blåmann

S/Y "Blåmann" was built with great inspiration from the rescue boats designed by the Norwegian boat designer Colin Archer, who is also known for the polar ship Fram.

Colin Archer's rescue boats are known for their seaworthiness, speed, and elegance. This played a significant role in the subsequent contract negotiations between Colin Archer and representatives from the Russian rescue service in 1902. A contract was signed for the construction of 2 rescue boats based on the Murmansk coast. Both vessels were to be built according to Colin Archer's RS designs, but they were built larger. The construction cost for each boat was 17,500 Norwegian kroner. The boats were named "Grand Prince Alexander Mikhailovich" and "Grand Prince Ksenia Alexandrovna." They were both launched in November 1902. They arrived in Murmansk on February 15, 1903.

The rescue boats were stationed at 2 rescue stations. They were both at sea for 150 – 230 days each year, without changing crew. In the first 8 years of service, they rescued 43 ships with 143 crew members. They also towed 304 vessels with 1104 crew members and assisted 22 boats.

In 1924, they were renamed "Stormn" and "Komsomolec," where they in 1926 sailed to Norway for major repairs and improvements. Only in 1926 did they manage to assist 31 vessels with 78 crew members. Unfortunately, their further fate is unknown, but it is confirmed that they sailed during World War II.

They sailed out into storms to help other boats in distress, and the crew could always feel safe on board. That is what S/Y Blåmann can offer you as a buyer of the vessel.

S/Y Blåmann has previously been certified for 12 passengers.

There are pictures from the entire construction process.
