About this Seaward MY-42

English

CE Category-A, long-distance, all-weathers semi-displacement explorer yacht. Semi-custom build by Seaward, based on the legendary and well-proven TT Boats Designs Nelson 42 Mk II hull. Utterly unique and without peers in this growing market space.

FURTHER BROKER’S COMMENTS:

Launched in the Autumn of 2016 as a semi-custom build for an experienced Seaward Nelson boat owner, BOUNDER was explicitly configured for long-distance all-weather cruising. Her initial ‘shakedown’ cruise saw her travel up to Bergen, Norway, and the Baltic, where her iconic TT Boat Designs hull shape, economic semi-displacement cruising from her twin Cummins QSB engines, Humphree Active Ride system, and Quick gyroscopic zero-speed stabiliser ensured absolute comfort and security whether underway or at anchor.

The Seaward MY-42, sharing the same Nelson 42MkII-derived hull form as vessels used by pilots, harbour masters, navies, and enforcement agencies, stands out in sea-keeping. Its rarity is further highlighted by its CE Category-A (Ocean) certification, a feature seldom found on motor yachts of this size. BOUNDER combines these exceptional sea-keeping abilities with luxurious interiors, featuring a spacious owner’s cabin layout, large forward cabin, lower dinette/saloon, and bright & airy upper saloon areas, making her perfect for a broad range of duties ranging from luxurious long-distance cruising for a couple, through to superyacht tender work for high-latitudes adventures.

Pages could be written about BOUNDER’s unique features and abilities, but Dave Marsh of Motor Boat & Yachting Magazine summed her up beautifully by concluding, “There are the pretenders, the boats with blue hulls and chunky trawler-like styling that only appear to be serious seagoing boats. And then there are boats like the Seaward MY-42, which truly can venture forth any time in any weather. The 42 is the real McCoy.”

UK-VAT paid, privately used and in only her second ownership, BOUNDER is now seriously for sale as her owners are looking to consolidate their sizeable fleet.

OWNER’S COMMENTS:

The previous owner of “BOUNDER” was an experienced yachtsman that commissioned her from new and was thoroughly involved in the build. Specification included significantly upgraded systems and specifically soundproofing. “BOUNDER” was his second Seaward and he kept her in absolutely immaculate condition, maintained by a professional skipper. We were thoroughly smitten by her sea kindly motion, comfort and build quality as we upgraded from planning-hulled motorboats. However busy diaries have kept us from making time to be afloat during our ownership and “BOUNDER” is now offered in pristine condition.

MANUFACTURER’S COMMENTS:

This rugged Seaward 42 was launched in late 2016 and has since proved time and again her mettle in seas that would challenge any vessel. ‘BOUNDER’ was specified by her original owners to travel long distances in comfort, with a view, particularly, to explore the North of Scotland, Norway and the Baltic; a trip that ‘BOUNDER’ successfully took in her stride in 2017. Boasting a technical specification that includes long range additional fuel tanks, large capacity generator and inverter system, Gyroscopic stabiliser and Humphree active ride control interceptors, ‘BOUNDER’ is a ‘go anywhere’ explorer.

No compromise is made in comfort however, ‘BOUNDER’s generous options list also includes a high spec galley, ‘Quooker’ hot water system and a capacious freezer; her bunks are provided with proper sprung mattresses and the heads has a powerful, hot shower and electric, fresh water flush toilet.

PRESS REVIEWS:

The Seaward 42 is an exceptional seagoing craft designed for seriously intrepid boaters who still want to do 25 knots…

…If £580,000 (note – BOUNDER’s original invoice cost was in excess of £730,000 and her replacement cost today would be upwards of £900,000) and upwards seems like a lot of money to pay for a boat with just a single sleeping cabin forward, then my test convinced me of the very opposite; that the 42 actually represents value for money when you take into consideration the high degree of customisation on offer and the outstanding practical detailing that’s clearly the result of obsessive compulsive disorder at work somewhere in the company…

…One of the key things that separates the intrepid 42 from a displacement plodder from the likes of Nordhavn is its excellent turn of speed. Our boat reached 25.5 knots with its owner specified 425hp Cummins… Given how soft riding the 42’s Nelson pilot boat form is, here’s a boat with the potential to undertake rapid transit even when it’s rough outside.

That said, its form also lends itself to fuel efficient cruising at single figure displacement speeds, courtesy of a long deep keel that stops it from wandering and helps to protect all the sterngear.

Verdict

There are the pretenders, the boats with blue hulls and chunky trawler-like styling that only appear to be serious seagoing boats. And then there are boats like the Seaward 42, which truly can venture forth any time in any weather. The 42 is the real McCoy.
