About this Gouwsluis Luxemotor 20m

English

Liveaboard with its own berth

In Gouwsluis near Alphen aan den Rijn, the Boot family started the shipyard 'Vooruitgang' in 1851. After wooden ships, the first steel ship walked off the slipway in 1890. Around 1900, 100 people worked at the yard in Gouwsluis.

The yard was progressive and wanted to build motorised ships containing its own engines. In a separate company called 'Industrie', the engines were built. Although some of the old Industrie engines are still in use today, over the years the original Industrie engine was replaced by a more modern, user- and maintenance-friendly, economical Perkins V8 diesel engine with 160 hp. With a high torque and an average consumption of only 4.6 litres per hour, this engine can certainly be called powerful as well as economical, which also results in low emissions.

The current owner, who has owned the ship for more than a quarter of a century, succeeded with distinction in keeping this beautiful ship in as original and good sailing condition as possible. With respect for the authentic style of yesteryear and the modern comforts you expect today, this ship radiates cosiness, warmth and love.

The annual long voyages to France called for sufficient awnings on the aft deck, the side windows and the 'cuckoo' skylights, so everything is ready for the next departure for the sun.

There is much more to be said of this beautiful sailing houseboat, by visiting on board you can experience it for yourself. Nauticus Yachting gladly invites you to discover this unique ship and her beautiful berth.
