Manufacturers description from the day...

Jeanneau Sun Charm 39

Well-structured deck layout From the stem fairlead back to the stern's integrated aft spoiler, every thing is studied in the finest detail for your greatest of pleasure. The attractive sloping of the deck area is accompanied by the personal touch of an elegant stepping the length of the grab-rail, angle sections are cut to be harmonious.
To make bow access easier, aside from the flush grab-rails, there are mast guards, stainless steel ventilator guards, the shrouding has been brought forward on the roof thus freeing the cockpit (your safety is the major imperative contributing to your well-being at sea) Jeanneau has selected only the best fittings for the Sun Charm 39's deck. Almost all the sail lines are led back to the cockpit fitted with a pair of powerful 51 winches to haul taut the genoa or spinnaker sheets in strong wind. Offering a high degree of comfort, the teak-slatted cockpit with its ergonomic backrests features 4 large, deep, compartmented lockers aft of the beautiful wheel where the engine controls, within easy reach of the helmsman, are integrated and protected from spindrift. The helm itself is a delight, being responsive and affording full control whatever the circumstances. The stern spoon gives easy access to the water (two steps and a large bathing ladder with small stowage locker) making for easier
bow-to-dock work or access to a tender. An oversized interior living space The interior of the Sun Charm 39 is absent of any compromise. Here at last, a yacht where space abounds where 3 cabins are amply appointed. Each features a commodious area in front of the berth, a reading seat and a good number of stowage lockers. The area at the foot of the companionway is also very large.
Two very attractive symmetrical washrooms adjoin the aft cabins. They have integral fitted locker units and feature pressure cold and hot (optional extra) water supply (a washbasin is allowed for the forward cabin).
The saloon is immense, refined, boasting handsome, supple upholstery. The ice is soon broken in such an inviting décor where the stereo adds atmosphere.
The navigation station, the true nerve centre for bluewater sailing, is an extension of the superbly-equipped galley (oven, double sink, refrigerator, hot and cold water). The overall arrangement is perfectly balanced and generously appointed.
The faultless finish and the quality of the materials is the translation of the luxury of the Sun Charm 39: varnished teak, solid wood mouldings, wood-core plywood roundings, shaped cushions.
The computer's C.A.D. system plays its part in the quest for on-board well-being: the contemporary line of the kitchen and the perfect positioning of the chart table are indicative of the above.  Air circulation and distribution are the result of much though and are regulated by the combination of two openings per living area:
two opening portholes in each aft cabin and a ventilator per washroom, several openings surround the saloon, an opening hatch and a ventilator equip the forward cabin.
A final detail: the grab-rails are always to hand wherever you may be aboard.
All in all - the type of interior the real and most demanding of sailors will fully appreciate.
