Construction

RCD Status: Our understanding is that the yacht is exempt from the essential safety requirements of the Recreational Craft Directive as she was built and placed into use within the EU prior to 1998.

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

  • GRP laminate hull construction.
  • The hull is built of single skin construction using GRP/Kevlar reinforced polyester laminate. A high proportion of the fibres are unidirectional, giving a stiff laminate with excellent strength and fatigue properties.
  • Constructed using two primary hull moulds being bonded at the gunnel line.
  • The hull is stiffened by the use of bonded bulkheads and supports.
  • Below the waterline the hull sections have been subject to extensive inspection, moisture readings, steam cleaning and drying followed by the application of several coats of an epoxy treatment system – 2018/2019. Described in the survey inspection from Summer 2021 as “being in most satisfactory condition with no significant areas of delamination or voids found.”
  • The topsides’ gel coat has been professionally re-gelled in an off-white colour – described in the summer 2021 survey report “the surface and finish is exceptionally good for her age.”

  • Fin keel with keel ballast is cast lead alloyed and antimony bolted to the hull moulding.
