We are pleased to present a rare opportunity to offer an Achilles 840 sailing yacht, a very rare marque this little yacht provides a great platform for getting out onto the water at a fraction of the usual cost.
This Achillies 840 (1984) is very rare only 60 were ever built, the 840 was the last of the Achilles range, built from 1979 to 1984 and were designed to be solid ocean going boats with successful OSTAR, AZAB and Fastnet race results in the early 80's.Beamier and with more headroom than similar designs of that era they now lend themselves well for single or short handed cruising but have enough space for a family to enjoy with a well laid out galley, separate head and plenty of usable storage throughout. This example has been lovingly restored over the last few years to a high standard. Thousands spent with an extensive list of all parts and upgrades.
Construction
A version of the classic Achilles 24 providing more space for accommodation, while retaining the sailing performance. This is a masthead sloop with tiller steering, a fin keel and skeg mounted rudder. GRP construction.
The rig is set up for ease of single or short handed sailing (and racing) including symmetric and asymmetric spinnakers. As well as a furling genoa, the mast is fitted with a furling system for the mainsail. The appropriate ballast has been fitted to the keel to compensate for the weight of the reefing system.
