Summary

Behold the highly regarded Najad 490, a vessel known for its superb build quality, stellar sailing performance, and unbeatable comfort and safety. This striking Swedish-built centre-cockpit bluewater cruising yacht has only had three owners since its launch in 2002. The 3-cabin layout makes it an ideal home for a couple while also providing ample accommodations for guests and crew. With a dark blue gelcoat protected by a white/red vinyl wrap, and an interior that combines sophisticated woodwork and luxurious facilities, ADASTRINA exudes charm and style. Whether in the tropics or northern areas, you can count on this yacht for a safe, solid, and head-turning sailing experience, ready for new owners to embark on her next adventure. The Najad 490 doesn't just meet expectations for a Bluewater cruiser, it far surpasses them. Own her now and let the wind fill your sails!

About this Najad 490

English

Extremely well-equipped 2002-launched Najad 490 with great 3-cabin, 2-heads interior layout, full-time cutter rig, electric winches, and everything you need for comfortable bluewater adventures.

FURTHER BROKER’S COMMENTS:

With just three owners since new, ‘ADASTRINA’ is hull No. 23 of the Najad 490 range of Swedish-built centre-cockpit bluewater cruising yachts.

Originally delivered to a Dutch owner, ADASTRINA was very lightly used for the first few years of her life. Sold to her previous UK owners in 2007, she continued a life of light usage around UK waters and then down towards Madeira where her owners had planned to take part in the ARC, but ‘home life’ and COVID got in the way. Repatriated back to the UK and sold by Grabau International to her current UK-based owners, ADASTRINA was refitted in 2023 in readiness for an Atlantic circuit which has now been successfully completed.

Delivered with factory dark blue gelcoat, her previous owners recently applied a vinyl wrap in traditional white/red Najad colour scheme, to protect the gel finish beneath. Fully equipped for short-handed bluewater sailing, and with minimal preparation and investment needed to ready her for her next adventures, ADASTRINA would be an ideal solution for a 2024 ARC or further adventures.

OWNER’S COMMENTS:

When planning to buy a liveaboard Bluewater cruiser, we specifically wanted a Najad 490 – for build quality, sailing performance, living comfort and safety – we were not disappointed. After an extensive refit including new instruments, Starlink, solar and wind generation, this lovely boat has taken us safely round the Atlantic circuit from the UK via the Canaries and Cape Verde to Granada with the ARC+, up through the Caribbean and back via Bermuda and the Azores. We mainly sailed as a couple and took on crew for the Atlantic passages. Her 3-cabin layout is perfect for guests and crew, yet we can happily handle her as a couple. We have lived aboard for nearly a year in comfort and style – her outstanding quality wood interior, sumptuous seating, and galley facilities the envy of our cruising friends! She is remarkably cool in the tropics yet warm and snug in northern climes. She has provided a safe, solid, and head turning home for us. We have now decided to return home and so she is now available for new owners to take her on her next adventure.

MANUFACTURER’S COMMENTS:

“Designing a sailing yacht, capable of sailing all over the world and at the same time being comfortable and safe for the crew, requires a great experience of long-distance cruising yachts. The result is a Najad 490. A 49 foot sailing yacht with a powerful, extremely seaworthy hull of modern design.

The bolted keel of lead is relatively long in order to maintain course stability and a smooth action at sea. When handling on land the yacht can stand on the keel without support in the fore-and-aft line.

The rudder is semi-balanced with a strong skeg, which ensures the steering is light and positive.

The Strong floor plat construction and stringers are laminated into the hull in order to take the external and rig load. An integral swimming platform is built into the stern for comfort and safety.

The Najad 490 offers, due to her size and volume, a variety of individual layout solutions. These layouts are designed by our design department and together with the client the boat is planned for 2-8 persons. Hereby, the Najad 490 is always a very personal yacht in a class of her own.”
