Construction

RCD Status: The yacht conforms with the essential safety requirements of Directive 94/25EC or RCDII (2013/53/EU as appropriate (Recreational Craft Directive) and is categorised A – “Ocean”.

 

Hull Construction:

  • Heavy duty GRP moulding, hand laid up to Southerly’s laminating system incorporating multi-axial and unidirectional reinforcements. Topsides are sandwich construction and all main bulkheads bonded into the hull at main lay-up stage.
  • 2024 New Copper-coat. With 2-year warranty from Desty Marine UK.
  • Forward watertight sail locker bulkhead.
  • Bronze skin fittings beneath the waterline.
  • Light grey gel coat hull with Ivory White coach roof.
  • Gunmetal Grey boot top and Gunmetal Grey & Red & style lines.

 

Deck Construction:

  • Hand laid up GRP with sandwich construction. Heavily stressed areas additionally reinforced with un-directional glass reinforcement. The deck is bonded and mechanically fixed to the hull through the entire length and to all main bulkheads resulting in a strong and integrated unit.
  • Teak laid deck.
  • Teak laid cockpit sole and cockpit seats.
  • Access to sail locker from foredeck.

 

Keel & Rudder:

  • Hydraulic lifting keel mechanism – fully retracts into hull. Mechanism and system replaced 2024.
  • The fixed ballast acts as a grounding plate.
