Boat History and Owners Comments

If you are looking for an exceptionally built, lovingly maintained classic cruiser, Native Dancer will not disappoint you! Everything you need is here in the beautiful Caribbean Islands ... Just bring your swimsuits!

We have owned Native Dancer (ND) since 2009. She has been sailed for 5 to 6 months a year in the Eastern Caribbean during this time. (The previous owner did the same since 1997.) ND is well maintained by a loving owner who is a mechanical engineer (previous owner was a diesel engineer). The original owners were an experienced sailing couple who used skills developed from building a previous boat. Many of the scantlings have been up-sized. Thicker floors, bulkheads, chain plates, rig, propeller shaft, and 100% lead ballast are just a few examples of her robust construction. The unique sole is beautiful solid Mexican Rosewood and Maple. Deck prisms provide additional light in the head, engine room, and nav station. The large double drop leaf table, nav desk and other wood trim are Cherry. There are 16 large storage lockers behind and below the settees. The six dorades provide air circulation even when the boat is closed up. While living at anchor for extended periods of time, we have never had to start the engine to charge batteries. Our solar panels and wind generator have never failed us with keeping everything running ... including making water! During hurricane seasons, ND has been stored on the hard under a custom made storage cover to protect her from the sun and other elements. In 2018, we completed several major projects: hull was painted, new engine mounts installed, shaft seal replaced, many hoses replaced, new water heater installed ... to name a few. In our 2019 survey, the surveyor concluded: "Having carefully inspected the vessel and her equipment, it is the opinion of this surveyor that this is an example of a well maintained, properly fitted out vessel ... It must be noted that the current owners have scrupulously maintained and continuously upgraded the vessel and her equipment during their stewardship." If you are looking for a classic, well-built and maintained cruising boat, Native Dancer will not disappoint! She has a very comfortable ride, and we have surprised many of our friends with her speed. Although we are sad to let her go, it's time for some new adventures for us and hopefully for you too!
