If you ever wanted to own a boat with fascinating provenance, then here is your chance! 'Bristol 1' was in its day a new and revolutionary planing keel-boat designed by Jack Holt who was then Britain's most successful designer of racing dinghies. Initially the boats were built with plywood, but 'Bristol 1' was the first to be built in fibreglass, and was built by Bristol Aeroplane Plastics Ltd in 1960, hence the name. The very next year she was entered for the Round-the-Island race, and won not only her class, but also the Gold Roman Bowl for the fastest boat on corrected time!
Following this triumph she was then shown at the 1962 London Boat Show. This is a very famous boat.
Recently 'Bristol 1' has been completely stripped out and professionally restored, back to her original specifications, including sheathing the hull. New keelbolts, alloy mast from Z-spars and sails from Doyle.
There is a new, custom-made road trailer, made by SBS, so this boat is absolutely ready to be taken on the road, either for racing, or for cruising in a variety of different locations. At 1.5 tons, plus trailer, she should be able to be towed.
