Construction

 

Not subject to RCD. Commercial Vessel over 24m.

 

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

  • Hull, deck and superstructure are all of Aluminium.
  • Teak laid deck on top of the aluminium.
  • The hull was resprayed by Desty Marine at Endeavour Quay, Gosport (October to December 2020).
  • Hull poslished spring 2023.
  • Antifoul and anodes spring 2023 (will be redone Feb 2024).
  • Through hull fittings all being inspected, serviced and replaced if required – Feb 2024.

 

Keel & Rudder:

  • Complete new rudder fabricated and fitted with new bearing and seals (by Links Marine of Mallorca, a Lloyds certified fabricator) in June 2019.

Machinery

Engine & Gearboxes:

  • 1 x Scania D993 257hp inboard diesel engine (rebuilt in 2012); shaft drive.
  • Twin disc transmission and gear system.

 

Maintenance & Performance:

  • Engine Hours - c. 20,783 @ November 2023.
  • Max. speed under engine approx. 11 knots.
  • Cruising speed under engine @ 1400 RPM approx. 9 knots.

 

Propulsion & Steering:

  • MaxProp feathering propeller.
  • Propspeed applied and propeller greased spring 2023 (will be done again Feb 2024).

  • Steering is Whitlock Mamba gearbox and shaft with an electric auto drive motor.

Bowthruster and Stern thruster:

  • The power take off (PTO) on the main engine will drive the hydraulics, primarily both the thrusters, but the PTO runs the complete system when the engine is running.  When sailing the power pack will run everything, except the thrusters.

Plumbing Systems

 

Fresh Water & Water Heating System:

  • Hot water circulation pump (2019).
  • Fresh water pump (2019).
  • 120 litre s/s domestic hot water boiler immersion tank, new in Jan 2020.

 

Watermaker:

  • HEM 25 Series watermaker.
  • Approx. 1400 gallons per day (1400 gpd = approx. 220 litres per hour assuming US gallons).
  • Approx. 8671 hours run at April 2023.
  • In 2016 the membranes replaced.
  • The system had a full revision in spring 2019.

 

Bilge Pumps:

  • There are three main bilge pumps which all work through the same manifold to different sections of the bilges: forepeak, foreship fore, foreship aft, engine room, aft ship, and aft peak.
  • There is a 380-volt AC, a 24-volt DC and an engine driven pump.
  • They can all run separately or together and can be used to pump the bilge or as fire pumps.
  • There is no automatic system, but each bilge section has a level sensor alarm.

Tankage

 

Fuel:

  • 2 x Fuel Tanks, with total capacity of approx. 3900 litres. The tanks are situated outboard at the engine room.

 

Fresh Water:

  • 2 x Fresh Water Tanks with total capacity of approx. 3000 litres. The tanks are located under the guest cabin beds.
  • Aquafine ultraviolet water treatment unit series SL-10A.

 

Grey/Blackwater holding tanks:

  • 1 x Holding Tank with capacity of approx. 500 litres. The tank is under the floor at the crew mess. Opened, cleaned and serviced November 2023.
  • Hamman sewage treatment plant – complete revision and pumps serviced 2019.

Navigation Equipment

VIVID has had a substantial upgrade and renewal program on her navigation and communication equipment.

 

January to April 2019, in Palma the following were installed:

  • New Furuno chart-plotters (3) fitted to helm station, pilothouse and captain’s cabin.
  • All B&G graphic display units swapped for series 5000.
  • New B&G computer fitted.
  • New B&G autopilot system and control, plus a handheld Bluetooth remote unit.
  • New Icom VHF radio fitted in pilothouse with additional station aft.
  • New 4G/Wi-Fi Pep wave router fitted.
  • New computer and screen fitted in pilothouse.
  • There are B&G repeater units also at the crew mess and the captain cabin.
  • New B&G wind sensor being installed Jan-Feb 2024.

 

In March 2021 in the UK:

  • New 4G and Wi-Fi antennas fitted to mast with new coaxial cable.
  • New VHF antenna fitted to mast with new coaxial cable.

 

Other Navigation Instruments on Board:

  • Furuno Radar 2807 – new radar screen in pilothouse 2023.
  • Furuno chart plotter.

Domestic Equipment

  • Vitrifrigo ice maker machine in the saloon (new April 2019).

 

Galley:

  • Miele induction 3-burner hob and Miele oven – gimballed for use at sea.
  • Miele dishwasher (new Nov 2023), which can operate via the inverter.
  • Miele washing machine, new May 2022.
  • Miele clothes dryer (2016), serviced May 2022.
  • Miele microwave and convection oven, which can operate via the inverter.
  • 24v refrigeration and freezers by Frigomar – the system was new in 2012, with 4 x 200 litre refrigeration / freezer interchangeable units.
  • Extractor hood with light over the cooker.
  • Nespresso coffee machine.
  • Stainless steel sink unit. Garbage bin. Good stowage.
  • VIVID is sold well equipped with galley utensils, cooking equipment, pots and pans etc.

 

Heads/Showers:

  • 5 x WCs – all Tecma electric toilets new 2019 with new control units fitted, running through grey / sludge tank or via the Hamman system. All toilet seats new 2023.
  • Deck shower at stern, hot and cold.

 

Heating & Ventilation:

  • Complete new Dometic heating and cooling water loop modular system fitted in March 2020 including new raw water and coolant pumps.
  • New air handlers fitted in galley and stewardess cabin, in March 2020.
  • Climma 18kw heating boiler fitted in March 2020.
  • New air handler fitted in captain’s cabin in spring 2019.
  • At the same time - new aft ship ventilation fan fitted, and the whole system inspected throughout boat with much of the ventilation ducting replaced.

 

Air-Conditioning:

  • New Dometic modular system fitted in March 2020.
  • New air handlers fitted in the galley and stewardess cabin in March 2020.
  • New air handlers were fitted earlier in 2019 to captain cabin and the system revised with much new ducting.
  • The saloon air handlers were fitted with new fans and serviced.
  • New Climma 18kw boiler fitted March 2020 for the heating system.

 

Refrigeration Systems:

  • 24v Frigomar refrigeration system.
  • 4 x 200 litre capacity fridge / freezer (interchangeable) front opening units at the galley.

Accommodation

 

Summary of Accommodation:

  • 6 guests in 3 cabins.
  • 3 crew in 2 cabins.
  • Owner cabin aft is full width and has a double berth and ensuite bathroom.
  • Two Guests cabins each with two single beds and ensuite bathrooms.
  • Two Crew cabins forward – port cabin with single bed and starboard cabin with one double bed with stowage below (this cabin was rebuilt during current ownership to provide a double cabin and with extra stowage below the bed). The crew share a head / shower area that is set to port. The galley is to starboard and opposite a crew dinette.

 

Spring 2019 the interior was re-furbished, including:

  • Saloon seating areas rebuilt.
  • All interior and exterior seating renewed and reupholstered.
  • All guest cabin panelling around the bed was renewed.
  • Aft cabin also refitted with panels aft of the bed remade to incorporate pictures and sofa reupholstered.
  • New Neptune mattresses throughout.
  • New carpeting.
  • Crew covers for the floor, tables, chairs, and upholstery.
  • Much of the pilothouse was revarnished.
  • Leather covered handrails at companionway and in the aft passage and at the forward part of the saloon.
  • Specially commissioned artwork in the main cabin by well-known French artist Georges Cabot, known as Geca ( ) – these can be left for a new owner if he wishes or removed for the seller to retain.

Description of layout from forwards:

 

Forward Crew Sleeping Quarters:

  • To starboard is a double cabin with raised double berth and stowage under.
  • Single berth cabin forward and to port.
  • Crew heads aft of single cabin to port.

 

Crew Area & Galley:

  • Dinette to port.
  • Washer/dryer installed under the seating to port.
  • Galley to starboard with a super U-shaped central work top (with locker and dishwasher below).
  • Twin s/s sinks.
  • Cooker/hob/oven plus further worktop space outboard.
  • 4 x fridge/freezer units are located at the forward end.
  • Hull port on port side and large hatch over galley.
  • From the dinette area there are steps up through a hatch to the deck.
  • A sliding door aft to the saloon.

 

Saloon:

  • 2 steps up lead to the beautiful light raised saloon.
  • U-sofa to starboard with oval table and 2 extra chairs.
  • Forward cabinet for table ware and cutlery.
  • Port side is an L-sofa aft (with a coffee table) and forward is a storage unit with a curved front and a TV.
  • The saloon has large coaming windows, hull windows each side, and two overhead hatches with fly and blackout screens.
  • Deck House:
  • 4 steps up and aft from the saloon lead to the deck house.
  • This is a wonderful, protected living space, with U-seating on either side with fixed teak dining tables (on s/s legs). Forward to starboard is an ‘inner-helm’ area with bench seat, desk, throttle, autopilot control, Furuno screen, B&G unit, Furuno GPS and radar screen. To port is the “navigation desk” with a bench seat, Icom VHF, phone and computer. From the deckhouse 3 steps lead up and aft to the deck.

 

From the Saloon, off centre steps lead aft and down to the Guest Accommodation:

 

Port & Starboard Twin Cabins:

  • Mirror image twin cabins each side, each with 2 hull ports and a deck prism for light and ventilation.
  • Soft furnishing including the bed surrounds were replaced under the current ownership.
  • Drawers under the beds. Shelves. Hanging locker. Bedside unit between the beds.
  • Each with ensuite head and shower area, which also have a hull port for ventilation and light.

 

Central passage with deck prisms above, at the forward end is the walk-in access to the engine room, aft the passage leads to the Owner’s Cabin.

 

Owner’s Cabin:

  • Luxuriously fitted out with a double berth on the centreline.
  • There is a desk to starboard and a sofa to port.
  • There is generous stowage with shelves, 2 x lockers to starboard, 2 x hanging lockers forward to starboard and drawers under the bed.
  • The cabin is light and airy, courtesy of, two deck hatches (and a central emergency exit hatch), and two hull ports each side.
  • Large ensuite head / shower area forward to port, with hull port.

Deck Equipment

Rig:

  • Sloop cutter rig.
  • Marten Marine carbon fibre mast and boom.
  • Mast removed and a complete five-year service by Advanced Rigging, Hamble was made, with all new s/s rod standing rigging in 2020-21.
  • In boom mainsail furling.
  • Reckmann hydraulic headstay and staysail furlers.
  • Both foresail furlers were sent to Reckmann for full service (January to March 2021).
  • Navtec hydraulic system, for the boom-vang, the double backstays, and inner stay (for staysail).
  • Genoa and staysail halyard tensioner.
  • The running rigging has been renewed in stages since 2019 (January to March 2021).
  • Visual rig inspection being made spring 2024 and rig polished again (was done 2023 as well).

 

Sails:

  • Mainsail, Staysail and Yankee – new March 2019 (in Spectra by Elvstrom Mallorca).
  • Asymmetrical Spinnaker in hoisting sock.
  • Sails removed, cleaned and stored each winter (incl. 2023-24).

 

Winches:

  • Lewmar winches.
  • 2 x 111 hydraulic for genoa sheets.
  • 1 x 77 hydraulic for the mainsheet.
  • 1 x 77 hydraulic halyard winch.
  • 1 x 77 manual halyard winch.

Cockpit:

  • The aft cockpit and helm area is carefully designed and provides twin helm positions, each with a teak seat for two persons.
  • The sail controls and winches are all at hand and this enables easy short-handed sailing.
  • VIVID has beautiful varnished wooden wheels.
  • There is a custom raised teak platform in the walkway past the wheels to keep access easy and on one level.
  • Forward of the helm stations is a clear deck area that may be used as a sun deck (cushions are on board).
  • Aft of the helm area there is a hydraulic gangway and a hydraulic swim platform in the transom which give easy access to the shore, the water or to the tender.
  • There is a hot & cold freshwater shower at the swim platform.

 

General:

  • Aft hydraulic swim platform door.

  • New Icom VHF radio fitted in pilothouse with additional station aft.
  • New 4G/Wifi Pepwave router fitted.
  • New computer and screen fitted in pilothouse.

 

March 2021:

  • New 4G and Wifi antennas fitted to mast with new coaxial cable.
  • New VHF antenna fitted to mast with new coaxial cable.

 

Paintworks:

  • The hull was completely resprayed (Oct-Dec 2020) in the UK.
  • Much of the exterior varnish work was refinished (Jan-April 2019).
  • Various areas of exterior paintwork around the deck and coaming were attended to as required (Jan-April 2019).

 

2023 Spring Works Completed:

  • Replacement of service batteries.
  • Various paint works to dinghy well, pilot house and stern.
  • Reseal saloon and pilothouse windows.
  • Antifouling.
  • Stern gear checks/services.
  • Survey for “Small Commercial Vessel Certificate” and associated works including new mechanical valves.
  • General checks and service of engine and gen sets.
  • Various small repairs and servicing as required.
  • New spinnaker halyard.
  • New radar screen in the pilothouse.

 

Other Refits:

  • There was also a refit by the previous owner made in 2016 in Palma and later works that year in Italy as well.
  • VIVID underwent a 2m Euro refit in 2012 at Jongert in Holland under the former owner. The teak deck was replaced at that time.
  • A list of the historic refits is available, but much is since out-dated by more recent works.
