The Ultrasonic Solar System - First Time at METS

METS 2010, 16th - 18th November, The British Pavilion, Stand; 03.428

The world's leading manufacturer of ultrasonic antifouling systems, Ultrasonic Antifouling Ltd, has developed a solar charger system for its unique Ultra range. The bespoke solar power unit provides boat owners who are without access to a shore power supply, with the opportunity of benefiting from the Ultra system, keeping the hull free from fouling year after year and eliminating the costly annual lift out and laborious painting with toxic antifouling.

The Solar System has been specially designed to control the power between solar panels, battery and the Ultrasonic Antifouling system. The intelligent unit keeps the ships batteries in good health and provides the Ultrasonic system with the correct amount of electrical power to protect the underwater profile from unwanted organisms. According to the voltage of the battery, the controller will adjust the charge current and decide if it needs to supply the electrical loads.

Managing Director of Ultrasonic Antifouling Ltd, David Sothcott commented, "The Ultra Solar System came about as a result of feedback from boat owners who were unable to install the original Ultra product due to the lack of a suitable power supply . We have responded to that demand, and are excited that we can now offer a solution that makes the system available to all."

Ultrasonic Antifouling has seen a massive rise in demand for its environmentally-friendly system, which uses high frequency, low power sound waves to destroy algae and therefore prevent weed and barnacle growth.

The company currently offers four easy to install models - the Ultra 10 (AC or DC) and the new Ultra 10 dual, for boats up to 10m, and the Ultra 20 (AC or DC) and the new Ultra 20 dual for boats up to 20m. Each system consists of a control box and either one or two transducers which are bonded to the inside of the boat's hull.

The system covers all of the hull and underwater gear, dealing with the problem at its source and destroying the algae to allow optimum speeds and reducing fuel costs by minimising drag. As a bonus, Ultrasonic Antifouling eliminates the annual preparation and costs associated with lifting and painting the boat's underwater profile.

The latest addition to the Ultrasonic Antifouling range, the Ultra Solar System, can be retrofitted to existing Ultra systems or as a package with either the Ultra 10 or Ultra 20. Ultrasonic Antifouling Ltd can be seen at METS Amsterdam 2010 on stand 03.428.
