SES LAUNCHES NEW RESCUE DEVICES AT SEAWORKS 2011

Ships Electronic Services Ltd (SES), a market leader in maritime communication and navigation electronics, will launch a new range of rescue devices from Italian manufacturer Wamblee at this year’s Seawork’s exhibition in June. The cost effective products, designed to keep crew safe while on board a vessel, include personal safety devices as well as the necessary electronic equipment to work alongside them.

The Wamblee “Man Overboard” products include the W410 and W400, light, compact devices that can be worn around the neck or directly fitted to a self-inflating lifejacket. The W410 has an integrated GPS system for quick location and can be manually or automatically activated. If the alarm is triggered, it sends a radio signal on VHF marine bands Ch16 and Ch70 ensuring that vessels within VHF radio range will be alerted. The W400 works automatically as a result of the sea water sensors on the rear of the device which activate the transmitter when a crew member is in the water. Fitted with a safety lock to avoid being accidentally activated, the W400 also comes equipped with a high performance light signal (LED).

Working in conjunction with the personal safety devices are the compact “Rescue Me” electronic systems, which can be easily mounted on the bulkhead or any flat surface. The W402 VHF MOB Receiver is designed to pick up radio signals emitted by all Man Overboard devices produced to EN 300-152 standards. The receiver recognises the SAR alarm tone and signals this via the built in speaker, alerting the crew of the vessel. The W405 MOB Alarm Repeater has a high performance GPS system and is an accessory to the W400 Man Overboard device. Designed to work with the W402, the W405 sends both vocal and SMS messages through the telephone system once an alert has been received to indicate the vessels position.

The new Wamblee range will be displayed alongside other equipment from SES’s extensive range of marine electronics on stand B7. Operating from six strategic sites in the UK, SES is a market leader with 35 years’ experience in supplying, installing and maintaining maritime communication and navigation electronics for many of the top manufacturers around the world.
